Steyr Challenge question

Hello there,

I have a Steyr Challenge and when I bought it, it comes with a source of foam/sponge washer around the barrel port, where you insert the pellet, which is gone now and I wonder if any of you has replaced it and how/where to find it or which material to use to make one. I've tried several different foams and all of them blows up at first shot.

Thank you guys

Miguel, it sounds like you have an air leak. The foam washer should not be subjected to an air blast. Check the oring in the bolt and the transfer port adjustment and oring. Possibly the bbl may need adjusting to the rear if you have had it out. After sorting the air leak double check your mv. Call me if you need to.

Most folks don't use the washer including me. I will tell you that a pellet can fall and get stuck, but only if you are on the timer in an important match. If a pellet gets crushed up under there and stays it will do "funny" things to your accuracy.

Yeah, you don't really need it, I've never had an issue with inserting a pellet into the barrel. If It's gone, I wouldn't worry about replacing it. I bought my Challenge Hunting from Krale, great service. And this is a fantastic rifle, not a lot of bells and whistles, but it sure shoots. Not sure why they label it "Hunting", since a single shot without safety is, to me, a target and plinking rifle. But, I have successfully hunted with it, just don't fully close the lever, and it's safe. Since I shoot some in my backyard, I had to add a silencer, it is loud without it. Best trigger of all my air rifles.
