Start insuring your USPS packages. THEY WILL GET DAMAGED/LOST

USPS is on my list of shippers not to use. My last item was 4 weeks late and no one had a clue why the package kept making a large circle around the state of Florida for the same weeks. ($800 Longbow) Speaking to friends, they have dealt with same issues way before and during the pandemic. I sometimes wonder if USPS non-hunting sympathizers are involved!

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. We’re they shipped Priority or slow boat? I try and ship priority as I feel the faster it goes, the less likely it is to get buggered or lost.

I’ve bought a couple things off Brad’s page recently, one from Az. and one from Mi., both shipped Priority and both arrived in good order in three days.

I reckon it’s pot luck. Again, sorry for your loss. Insurance is a good idea, but some things are, if not priceless, hard to value.

edit: I purchased a trinket from Midway on the 13th of May last year. They shipped “Sure Post”. It arrived the first week in November! They’d refunded my money but when it finally arrived, I contacted them and cheerfully paid for it. They didn’t charge me for the shipping though.

I quit using usps for any thing I ship or have shipped to me. I pay more for the same item, if the company uses UPS. UPS all the way from now on . I just received an antique painting that was over a month in the mail, 100 mile trip. Last week sent another antique 500 miles via UPS was there on the third day. USPS need fixed or privatized. Too bad those who rule us are unable to fix anything.

ps I will say I have not had anything lost or damaged from usps in over a year.

I really have seen no difference between USPS, UPS and FedEx these days. In fact I would give USPS the edge (at least in my area). All the carriers are swamped and service is clearly suffering, but I have definitely had more mis-deliveries from UPS than from the USPS. At least the USPS delivery guys are local and actually know where my house is. UPS and FedEx have so many new/temporary drivers that they are constantly getting lost, not to mention delivering my stuff to other people then claiming they left it at my house. Funny how once I mention that I have cameras which show every one who comes down my driveway they suddenly realize that they must have left it at the wrong place 🤔

However I always insure my shipments, no matter who I use!

I had two lost via USPS (one during the summer, and one in the fall), and three took almost 2 months to show up. One circled around another state for 2 weeks, one was misspent to another state after being about 15 miles from my home at the reginal sorting center.

Even if insured, it takes forever to claim with USPS. Has to wait 45 days just to start the process. Anything of value, I ask the sender to ship with anything but USPS.

I saw this sign over the mail sorting room in our post office:

My two worst shipping experiences were with a service called something like, UPS Express. That's probably not it, but something similar. I opted for it as a well-priced UPS option. Turns out, UPS ships to a regional USPS facility, and they deliver to the customer. Both times, UPS got it to the post office in two days, then it disappeared. UPS could only tell me they delivered on time, and USPS could tell me nothing. So, if you see an attractively priced UPS option, find out the details, it might be a post office ambush.
