Just wanna ask you guys on which barrel to choose for benchrest shooting having no power limit. What are the difference of both interms of everything that has to be considered in benchrest shooting?
If you want .22 then the Polybarrel for power over 30FT, they can be problematic under that power level and that means you must shoot the JSB Monster really, some seem to shoot the 18.3g JSB and some don't as it's right on the 30 FT limit at the speeds it shoots well at.
I had a 46fpe hopped up 22 Rapid that shot lights out at 100 yards using 21gr Barracuda Match with the factory standard Lothar Walther barrel which it originally came with.
A comparable RAW HM1000X with poly wouldn't come close to its accuracy so I have to say go with the standard LW.
When compared side by side using a pair of hopped up Marauders the poly didn't do as well at 100 yards compared to the standard as well.
I no longer try anything other than the standard LW rifled barrels or CZ Taipan or Edgun which may be worth trying.
Forum Shooter PMG recently purchased a Taipan Veteran and brought it over to my indoor/outdoor range for set-up. Never being a bullpup shooter, I was absolutely stunned by its accuracy. Shooting JSB 18.13 pellets, it literally stacked one on top of another at 50 yards. My chrono registered the muzzle velocity at 941 fps. It was very impressive. So for this pellet combination, I would think one couldn't go wrong with the CZ barrel.......
i have a poly barrel on my raw hm1000x... its shooting kings heavy (MK 1) at 880fps and capable of 1-1.3" groups (12 shot groups) at 100 meters with light crosswind..... i have not modified anything on my rifle, only changed the barrel....
not only change the barrel, but choose the correct pellet, that there is harmony between the pressure of the regulator and the hammer spring tension .... claudio flores from patagonia airguns (chile) has just won the Extreme Bench Rest with a brocock .22, it comes standard with a classic LW 18" barrel, he changed it to a LW 24" poly barrel and also tuned regulator and hammer spring tension!!
