Squirrels Eat Aluminum

I am a residential roofing contractor, and squirrels do ungodly amounts of damage to homes. I had one home where they had gnawed off every lead pipe boot and PVC pipe flush with the roof, and I had to have a plumber come out and extend every single pipe before we re-roofed the house.

Also saw where they chewed through the top of an outdoor air-conditioning unit and built a nest inside during the winter. They chewed through the condenser coil and leaked out all the Freon. And when the unit started up for the first time they ran to get out and got chopped up in pieces by the fan blade. Blood, guts, and dead baby squirrels inside of that air-conditioning unit. Whole thing had to be replaced.

I hate squirrels with a passion.

Concerning the reasons "pest" animals need to be controlled; In April 2010 I was bitten by a tick in my yard probably from a rabbit, the area was infested with rabbits, every time I "eliminated" one it was loaded with ticks, I didn't know at the time I removed the tick, it had infected me with the bacteria causing "Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever"! About a week passed before I got sick, I didn't associate the tick bite with being sick. After another week I got REALLY sick with a fever spiking to 105.5 with freezing chills called "rigors" headache, and I couldn't eat or sleep, after seeing several "health care providers" I ended up in the Hospital under the care of an Infectious disease specialist Dr. who prescribed doxycycline I.V. I barely survived. After I went home a day or two later I developed extreme pain in my short ribs, and could hardly breath, back to the E.R., had blood clots in both lungs! (R.M.S.F. causes clotting problems) I barely survived again! My friends believe me when I say "tick fever is "EVIL", and if people want a reason to control "pest" animals this is a good one!

On a positive note, possums are renowned for eating ticks...and are virtually immune to rabies. They get a pass from me as they also perform janitorial duties.

They can Also lower ones blood pressure while you pet them. LMAO!

Roddents (squirrels) teeth never stop growing. They normally keep them worn down on nut shells in the wild. In town soft aluminum, and copper wire are used and the smart ones don't "eat" the thinks they chew up. They also use items made of plastic, wood, rubber(hoses)., barbeque tool handles, and any other thing that will not break their teeth. rabbits, birds, mice, rats, ect all have the same need to sharpen and grind back the growing teeth. Add the need for nesting material and their propensity to try everything they find like tulip buds and you have destructive PESTS. aluminum & copper react with saliva to produce micro voltage which they seem to "like" as automotive wiring. fence ties, house electrical services and some clothesline wire. There doesn't seem to be any limit to their curiosity.

Damn squirrels ate two front wiring harnesses out of my Jeep Grand Cherokee at a cost of $2500.00 each to fix. Chewed all the plastic parts on my F-350 Dually rear bumper as well. I sent a message to them with my 25 cal Bobcat MK 2. Put 18 in the freezer in 3 days during squirrel season (6 /day limit). They are multiplying so fast just can't keep up with them,,,until my wife grabbed a rifle. She managed 32 more off the bird feeders shooting from the kitchen window at 35 to 50 yards in one week. They love the black sunflower seeds...If I don't fill the feeders for a week they reek havoc on my Cargo Trailer and Shed...

Put out live traps and a neighbor lady complained...so I took the ones I caught to her house and let them go on her back porch...now she is asking me to stop by to use the air rifle on her property...
