Squirrel Issues. Need super quiet but super accurate airgun.

Jimmy.....you have been given several very good options by others here. The Weihrauch's, Walther, Air Arms......all excellent and can't go wrong with these springers. They are all high end and top quality. But if possible I would take intenseaty22's offer to shoot some of them that he owns. Y'all are both in the Atlanta area and it would be very beneficial for you in the decision making process. He also would be able to give you pros/cons........

A lot of Metro-Atlantians around here, I'm out East near Stone Mountain. The quietist springer I have is a 22 LGU. A forum member 3D printed some baffles for it and it's very quiet. Funny that the 22 is quieter than the 177. Most of my springers are magnum powered Dianas though. Quiet and lite weight are not requirements for me in guns. I have some lite weight quiet PCPs. The quietist gun I own is a 177 cal Cricket compact tuned to 13 fpe. Talk about silence.

It's kinda funny no one has mentioned that center point scope!!! Most don't last to long on a springer....could be your main problem and of course pellet choice. Every gun is different and you have to experiment with a few types of ammo.

On the other hand that 97 with a quality scope will do the job for years and a much I mean much better shooting experience than that through away gamo....lol

James from Michigan

I did and offered a better solution. The scope is highly suspect in his situation and buying an entirely new gun is probably not a necessary solution.

I just ordered a .22 HW97K with a Moderator and with a Vortex Crossfire scope through Airguns of AZ. (Should I have gotten a better scope?)

Thanks for all the help people!!! I probably should of done this research before I bought the Gamo.

Special Thanks to the local GA members that offered let me try out their Airguns before I purchased anything, but I'm an impulse buyer. LOL.

I'm in Johns Creek/Alpharetta.

I will say that you have done quite well with that purchase! I have an HW97K in .22 with a Vortex CrossfireII 6-18 X 44 mounted atop. I have been more than pleased with the combination. The 97 is an exceptionally accurate rifle and very well built. What power and objective lens size did you get and what mounts/rings? Below is a pic of what mine looks like......

BTW.........it will put squirrels down quickly and with ease so long as you do your job with the shot placement.

I actually have the gamo swarm fusion gen2 in .177. It deadly accurate shooting out to 40 yards. I have dropped many squirrels in my back yard with it. I use a hawke vantage 4-12x40 ao scope. Using pellets 8gr and up it's pretty quiet

I have a Gamo Maxxim. Same thing. I've got many very high end springers and the Gamo does every bit as well as any of them....with the benefit of multiple shots.

@TiredRooster

Vortex Crossfire II 4-12x50 AO BDC with Hawke Match Mounts 2 piece high 1" is on my invoice. I just went with their recommendations.

Also ordered a few cans of H&N Field Target Trophy

Cool beans! I guess you would need high mounts with a 50mm objective. It sounds like a good combination you have chosen. I also shoot the H&N FTT's in my 97 with excellent results. I have tried several different pellet brands and a couple of different head sizes in the H&N's. I have found that the 5.53 head size gives the most consistent/repeatable accuracy through my barrel. The 5.54's do really well........but I've kinda settled on the 5.53 as they seem a bit more consistent. I'm sure you will love it.........congratulations.
