Is there a durable feeder that won't disintegrate from pellet hits (armored pretty much). Or do I have build my own? I know it's not going to show up as "armored" in the ad, but maybe someone knows of a metal feeder that can take some punishment.
I've always built mine. A scrap piece of sheet metal in front does the trick. The following photo is before paint, and you can see the sheet metal there near the base. You can see some pock marks from pellet impacts:
Some old scraps of hardiboard are applied to the water-shedding surfaces and everything is sealed with roof tar. No water gets in. Here it is painted and hung up, open for business:
Okay thanks. For some reason that isn’t working from my phone. I’ll try later on a desktop. Seems strange that it embedded the video just fine on a copy/paste but not the JPGs.
Anyone ever used old "rubber belting" as a back stop?
I found a large piece on the Hwy... it's about 18" wide x 6' long and about 3/8 thick. I would think it would be really good as a back stop and protect the feeder W/O making too much noise like steel. I keep forgetting to shoot it and see how it holds up.
I only use the Compact Cricket in 177 for right on a feeder and use the all metal Chinese ones for sunflower seeds. Anything above 20 FPE is pretty wicked on them metal or wood. Normally I avoid hitting it. lol
