Springer with Bipod and Accuracy??

if your just plinking cans it might be ok , but just ok .Springer need to move freely ! A front bag rest might be better and you can make one out of an old pant leg and Styrofoam pellets so it is light weight to rest the front of the stock on , NOT the barrel. nothing should touch the barrel ever.

I think accuracy would suffer. If stationary use a front bag. I have seen Field Target shooters use shooting sticks. I use a trigger stick with a soft cloth on the rest. The bags I recommend are Protektor brand, forgot to include them. They work great. The Primos sticks are magic.

Had my wife sew up a "pot holder" with 3 layers of satin , slippery cloth . first layer is shiny (slippery ) side up . next layer is shiny side down faceing shiny side of first layer. top layer is shiny side up to set rifle on . all three layers sewn together like a pot holder . This you can hold in your hand or place on a bag / limb/ fence post/ anything that you rest your gun on . size is 4 inches square . or any shape or size you care to make .

I recently added sling swivel studs to my .177 Diana 48. Went out to my brother in law's farm to do some pest control that involved a fair amount of sitting and waiting. Since I now have a mounting point, I decided to mount a Harris bipod and see how it worked. It definitely made the job easier, and it had no perceptible negative impact on accuracy and surprisingly didn't change POI. Made a baker's dozen clean headshots on red squirrels at 35-45 yards, and no misses.

I used a Harris Ultralight model 1A2. It's a perfect fit and match for the 48.

I have had good results with bipods and shooting sticks. Thing is they can make you more accurate provided you hold them the same each time. My HW95 is a laser with my shooting sticks, however if I adopt a Field Target position the POI will change drastically. Where as shooting holding a rifle on open palm stays mostly the same regardless of position so long as the same part of the forward stock is matched to your open hand.
My 95 is my woods walker with shooting sticks, I would not even try to hit a squirrel in the head from a FT position as it will without doubt change POI drastically.
Bipods are great for the bench, and if that is all you do, a great tool. Want to use the same rifle offhand for a quick shot, good luck with that, between human error and drastic POI change I am sure the rodent is safe.
