Has anyone installed one of these in a springer? I recently got a chronograph and my 17 year old RWS 34 is pushing 14.3 Benji Domes to 660 fps. The gun is far from worn out. I have less than 10K pellets through it. Is this a normal velocity for this gun? It was advertised as an 800 fps gun.

Tom at Vortex is a stand up guy and makes a fine product. I've done a few different springers with his kits and they have all shot nice. I've also done a few with ARH kits, my preference would be the ARH but Jim is only doing limited stuff at this time due to health problems.

I've done both and although I started with ARH and their stuff is good, my vote goes to Vortek. I started with ARH in my M34, then went to Vortek and IMHO Vortek is superior. The main reason is no heavy tar or grease is required which results in a much more consistent springer. The Derlin guide also keeps spring twang silent on a perminate basis.

Put the Vortek Kit in my 1985 Beeman R1 (HW80) .20 cal. Gun was not used for last 25 years. Did a chrono recently and with Beeman Silver Bear pellets, it was shooting an average of 633 fps with a spread of 616-641 fps. Installed the kit with no problems and the same pellet was shooting 944 fps with a spread of 927-953. Also did a series of tests with the Beeman Crow Magnum pellet. It brought new life into an old gun. I can now hit a beer can at around 50 yards off a rest with no problems.

Thanks for taking the time to let me know of your findings. I am now a pcp guy, but still love my old M 34. I think it's worth it to go with the Vorteck spring, guide and seal kit. I would love to get to the mid 750s with 14.3 gr. pellets.

I doubt that you will hit 750 with 14.3's. No problemo though, 700 will knock the snot out of squirrels and rabbits.

I have a Vorteck tune in my Beeman R-10 and R-7, also in my RWS 52, and I put one in a HW 77 that I recently sold.

Actually, 660fps in that rifle at that age isn't bad at all-I recently rebuilt my R9 with a vortek kit and am getting 685fps or so with 14.66 FTTs . I think the 34 in stock form does about high 600s to low 700s with 14.3s. Vortek kits really smooth out the shot cycle, my R9 shoots like butter now, no twang, just a nice smooth thunk!
