Springer/ gas ram only hunting page?

I'm pretty sure this post does not break any of the current guidelines If it does just let me know.... However, is there a page on AGN that is for Springer and/or gas RAM hunting only? I know we all have PCPs now but I thought it would be a cool addition to have a hunting section just for the Springer guys and I would love to add some of my collection of kills to the list. Thanks guys just let me know!

Hunting with springers is a unique challenge and I’d certainly like to read more about those who hunt with their spring guns. I do about 70%-80% of my hunting with an hw97k or an hw50s (both .177) and feel very confident with shots out to 40 yards. Beyond that, I’ll go with a PCP.

By all means, feel free to post away about some of your springer hunts.

Break barrel hunting isn't a challenge. They are powerful Springer that will shoot as good as pcp. Real challenge would be co2 bb gun. That are 300 to 400 fps with .177 bbs. Now try hunting animals with those at 50 plus yards. That's a real challenge.

That would be inhumane

Great stuff @JohnL57

I disagree @JimNM I think you are missing my idea behind it, I will re word.

We are all enjoying the sport of air rifles of any kind, I just thought it would be a good thread to start for everyone to be able to filter through what rifles are being used to do the hunting, not to divide the category of rifles based off power plant. We like airguns, its simple but having a thread to see exactly what you want that day would be a useful and welcome improvement IMO but who am I.

To the guys who say its not a challenge, its not meant to be who's better with power plants you are thinking a little too much into it. Its a categorizing thread suggestion not in anyway to place barriers between who uses what.

I hope they do make one and if not oh well, I like to scroll through and see everyone who practices ethical and humane pesting/hunting. If we have to sift through to find our flavor of the day then so be it, however making a "menu" never hurt anyone.

You asked for our input. My thoughts are worth the digital paper they are printed on, and nothing more.

I.E.....

Field Target has a forum. It is not divided between Piston guns vs. Pumper/PCP guns. There is no need to further scatter threads.

Optics has a forum, and it is not divided between variable power and fixed power scopes, nor is it divided between FFP and SFP scopes.

IMHO and only MHO, making a separate forum for piston powered gun hunting is not beneficial. Make all the threads you want, but keep the hunting threads in a common forum.

Well put ! We have a hunting forum. No need to subdivide it.

I love hunting with springers and do quite well with them actually. But I would have to agree with the above on this. A forum can become far too fragmented if not careful. I have in the past posted in the Hunting forum my small game exploits and kills made with my springer. I of course included in the post that I used a springer. Good enough I think.

This is the a similar request that was made several months ago regarding a new category for the hunting forum. Many wanted a "Long Range " forum but it never happened. Probably for many of the reasons mentioned here. I was leaning against it because not everyone who desires to be a long range marksman will become one. Why encourage those who don't use good judgement.

I appreciate all the input but I still stand strong to my idea that If people want to divide something into categories and make a fuss over it it's because of the person not because of the thread lol. I understand you can't please everybody but I don't see how being able to find exactly what you want would cause headache to anyone besides those who I've already made their mind up anyways. On that note, I already have enough trouble finding things on here because there are so many dang threads! It's definitely a well put together site compared to the other forms but it can be confusing at times. Like I said in the beginning it was just a thought. I did my best to look at it from the other angle but I just don't see a negative impact however majority rules and I'm Glad we can create these topics to discuss and figure them out rather than just have some admin slashing out things he thinks is good!
