Spring piston vs gas ram rifles

My gamo mach1 .22 with that igt gives me a work out. Makes my old bemans1000 a peice of cake cocking

By the end of shooting I'm up to 2 arms on the barrel with my right arm saying " is this going to be your last shot today?"..... Lol..

But ya , the gamo is stiff and I'm not a 20 year old anymore

All I use are xman hollow point does just fine

HW95 with a good ol’ spring is smooth, super accurate, and will be around in 50 years, Gamos will not. Springs can be replaced easily. Gamo pistons cannot. You can not worry about too cold of weather impacting the spring piston either.

Also, an HW can hit and maintain a quarter at 50 yards. A Gamo cannot.

Also HW spring 95 in .22 is easy to cock. Not pellet fussy, and has the same recoil as the .177. Easy cocking

Lol... My gamo going back in 5 days not 50 years thank to the RRR dowl pin not long enough to catch the hole . As far as shooting it was fine and looking like a keeper

Then I guess 50 years is in a closet or put up not a Daily user .something is going ware down get old fail most of all you want the hot new item in 2 anyway ...lol...

I’ve seen many HWs working and in great shape from the 70s. I don’t see any Gamos. But hey just my advice take it with 2 cents.

I'll give my standard response for my pick for a someone new to this hobby. Bye a Xisico XS25 tuned by Mike. You will get a great rifle that will last for years. And so smooth and sweet for a great price. Even if you get one non tuned. Mike will not sell you a rifle that has not been inspected and fired. If you want a Magnum look at the XS28M. Most will tell you a HW95, HW77, RWS 34 etc... but one of these will last and serve you well.

Here is an article that talks about the various factors affected by barrel length. They reference an earlier study that found springers to attain maximum velocity in a 10" barrel. My feeling is that it probably depends to some extent on how much air the springer is moving. The magnum guns may show maximum velocity in barrels longer than 10". But for the H77 the 10" figure is probably pretty close, and if there is a difference it probably is not very great.

That's ok but I'll pass😁

Thanks anyway.

Imo it all depends on the gun. I’ve shot some smooth springers and have heard the 54 is really smooth when tuned. Soon as I have the money I will be pulling the trigger. I’ve never shot a quality gas piston, only quality springers, and I have a hard time imagining a smoother shot. I know a lot of the guys I kinda look upto in the airgun community choose traditional springs and for a variety of reasons. Accuracy depends on gun and in large part barrel. With springers I’d rather focus on barrel length as a variable for accuracy rather then velocity. I don’t have issues with general shooting but as mentioned earlier about shooting a quarter at 50 yards... I’d love to see that being done with any springer. I’d be pretty darn impressed with that individual and the gun.

Laser ranged 51.5 yards, HW97KT, Crosman Premier pellets. The squares are 1/4'' other than the one pulled shot the other 4 pellets are under 1/2'' CTC well under dime size.

You'd really be surprised a GAMO Springer in the right hands can definitely do it. Yo!
