Spotting Scope DEAL OF THE CENTURY

"Actually, the way I understood it, Bushnell had a contract with B&L to market certain scopes……………………back in the late 1990's. The Spotting scope is an actual item that was made at one time."

This is true. The first Bushnell Elite line of scopes was originally made under the B&L trademark for several years. That is where the term B&L Bushnell scope comes from. Those first B&L/Bushnell Elite scopes were actually produced in Japan and only the name of B&L was used. This was because Bushnell was synonymous with cheap scopes like the Banner, Chief and Trophy lines. The perception was buyers thought they were getting USA made B&L optics when in reality Bushnell was offshoring it all to Japan. They were great made in Japan optics with outstanding glass but the coatings were not as advanced as now. Real USA made B&L were closer to German optics at that time and built like a tank. Basically Bushnell used B&L for marketing cannon fodder.

How can they have the 62% positives on Wal-Mart?

Probably the SAME way guys on airgun forums will build up some positive feedback by having some good transactions and building up confidence. Then they put a gun (or two) on the classifieds and "sell" if to several different people without ever having intentions of delivering it. You're not that naive, are you?

That really makes sense however I really don't get why would this seller go out with only a $40 item then actually appear to SELL OUT so quickly thus limiting the total dollars collected?

If I were that guy there wouldn't be a limit to the number of spotters available to sell and the listing would never have an end IE- never sold out.

The item is way too obscure for a standard scam. If you look at the diversity of products these types of vendors sell it is more probable they bid on blind abandoned or confiscated storage enclosures. Either that or buy auctioned off insurance written off products from accidents, exposure to things or warehouses going out of business etc. At worse a mistaken listing part number some guys wife in the business grabbed scrounging around the internet for old marketing info. I am hoping just warehouse orphans somebody bought in a batch of other products they are more familiar with.

Let's face it this is an extremely obscure item even most reasonably experienced optics buyers would not even give a second look. I would venture to say only the people Odoyle enlightened on this site bought them so maybe 15 items at $40ea and it ran out quickly. That is hardly worth burning Walmart who has a fleet of lawyers on retainer to chase you with. If you were going to do a scam and run you would put up a popular cell/Iphone or gaming accessory etc that had a higher selling price and massive popularity to younger less experienced buyers. Something you could sell thousands of in a few hours.

Written like someone who deals with scammers all the time, and knows their MO......................................NOT

BTW - what happened when you tried to call them at their listed phone #?

LOOKS LIKE A HIPPIE SCAMMER!

THE SPOTTER HAS BEEN AVAILABLE SINCE SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER LAST YEAR ACCORDING TO CUSTOMER FEEDBACK. THEY LISTED IT IN THE WRONG CATEGORY SO NOBODY COULD PULL IT UP IN THE APPROPRIATE CATEGORY WHEN DOING A NORMAL SEARCH AND THEY MUSTA REDUCED IT SINCE ONLY A FEW BOUGHT IT WHO HAPPENNED TO COME ACROSS IT BY ACCIDENT LIKE I DID.

Tinboat, You do realize we all just did a measily $40 daily transactional consumer business with the largest corporation in the US? Not just the largest consumer business but the largest corporation in the US period. You act like we all loaned our cars to some stranger on a streetcorner in Compton who promised us all new tires and rims for $40.

I have never called a vendor regarding a purchase on a corporte website in my life. I would deal with Walmart and let them deal with "their" vendor. Same with Amazon or Ebay etc. I might send the first email at most. If the vendor doesn't respond and take care of it then the corporate host website Walmart pays you back. It might take a week or two for the process to play out and I could not care less if they tie up a whole $40 for awhile. That is not even a cheap dinner with the wife. If I have to return it to the Walmart right down the street to have them credit me then whoopie, my wife goes ther twice a week anyway. Some of us took a calculated risk. What's the big deal and why do you care?

Honestly? Since you don't seems to care I don't give a flying you know what about you. Just trying to point out for those who value their $$$$ some of the signs that this is a SCAM.

To those who actually appreciate getting tips to help you save $$$$, I'm sorry but no more. I'm done trying to help people out.

☝ In all fairness BTB knows what he's talking about and just watching out for everyone. He's like a German Shepherd (well ROTTWEILER IF YOU PISS HIM OFF).

HE'S REALLY A GOOD GUY AND WE CHAT REGULARLY OFF OF THE FORUM TOO JUST LIKE TODAY NOT EVEN MENTIONING THIS TOPIC BELIEVE IT OR NOT HE LIKES TO POKE THE BEAR OUTSIDE OF SHOOTING THE BULL PRIVATELY.

Matter of fact! I learned EXTREME FRUGALITY from BTB !!!

GET the absolute MOST for the money and had it not been for him I wouldn't be posting the heads up on the good deals since he was on VACATION till recently.

I would text him a heads up on deals then he texts right back with even cheaper deals and I was forced to step up my game.

You guys really gotfa appreciate BTB because I learned a lot from him. FACT!!!

HE IS ALWAYS RIGHT TOO. (hopefully NOT with this spotter though)
