South Africa - email from AAO

Not trying to rehash old news but if you know anyone in South Africa please continue to keep them in your prayers….

Power grid in SA is on the brink of collapse. Jeremy at AAO just informed me power is off 10-12 hrs a day. Power lines are being cut down for copper scrap during blackouts, perpetuating the situation. Looters and thieves are also quickly growing bolder, knowing police forces have been thinned out over the past few years.

Please keep political comments to yourself, this post’s purpose is to bring awareness that we have fellow airgunners in some horrible situations that can use our prayers. Thanks for reading and God bless.

Apologies if i was giving the impression they are new, you are totally correct, it has been happening for years, but has gotten substantially worse in areas as of late. US Embassy is recommending a stockpile of food and water for travelers even. I bring it up so we can keep them in our prayers and thoughts because we rarely see any coverage of SA in the US news. SA‘s Disaster declaration became a topic of discussion over the weekend, so it seemed appropriate to update the post for added awareness. We are blessed to have what we have.
