Sometimes it's fun to dance with the ugly ones.

Sometimes the fun goes out of shooting the top of the line HW's, Diana's, Air Arms etc. I own all of the above. So when an add showed up with 2 new in the box Beeman Silver kodiaks dual caliber for 100.00 bucks? I offered 80. He countered with 90.00 and the deal was done. I didn't really need them or want them. I was just longing for the old days when finances were low and every cheap Springer was a challenge. I figured it would be fun to tinker with these. And I wasn't disappointed! First I filled the hollow stock with airsoft bb's. Then I chamfered the breach to ease loading the pellets. Next shoot 200 rounds thru it untill it stopped smoking. Tune in a tube was next. What a difference that makes. Finally removed the trigger lawyer spring. Had fun all along the way. Oh yeah, when I went to mount the scope the right side had no groove! It was just ground flat for the Groove. Ordered diamond grit wheel for my Dremel tool and groved it myself. Didn't turn out half bad. Would not group with the factory scope so I put a descent scope on it and wallla.........this ugly girl can dance! Took quite a few lessons though. But oh well, provided several hours of fun.

Two 5 shot groups this am at 25 yards. 9 under a quarter. Will never be an HW. The trigger is still tough to master at 3.5 lbs. But I think I enjoyed the lessons as much as She did. Also scratched my tinker itch for a while.

You are so right. I am lucky enough to have some really, really nice air rifles. I also have a 20 year old Crosman 760 with a cheap red dot on it in the garage. I shoot it all the time, its just fun. Built my daughter a 1322 pumper carbine that came out so good that I am building myself a 2300s carbine to shoot . That way we are on a pretty even playing field. I had to build her a gun so I could get my Blue Streak back from her.

I get it. I totally do. I recently picked up a red rider adult and cant put it down. I haven't shot my diana, asp20, or weirauch's in days!!! I get excited when i hit the target at 25 yards. Almost hit the spinner set at 35 yards. I can't beloeve how i am enjoying it!!!

Tempted to plink the garbage invaders at 35 to remind them to stay away. Thing is I recently got a sheltie that is turning out to be a great hunter, so when I open the door the critters scatter. Not as impressive as my lab was (rip dear friend and companion), but she is chasing every squirrel, rabbit, vole, mouse, chipmunk, bird.........

I just picked up two non-functioning airguns from a local pawnshop. A Chinese B3-x and a Marksman0035. I got them working again. The Marksman is an impressive little rifle. Very smooth to cock and shoot and not pellet picky at all but there are some that it produces tighter groups with. Most all the groups I was getting were 1/2 inch at 10m. I put a Williams peep sight on it and that is a very nice pairing; however, I may eventually put a scope on it. The B3? Its not accurate at all. I eventually want to work on the muzzle crowns to see if it helps with the accuracy of both rifles. The Marksman was pushing 8gr pellets at about 500fps.
