Some high speed video recording on reactive targets

Hi Michael - Nice video - my ZR1100 should be here on Friday.
Questions:
  • At 480fps the video looked good but seemed to be of slightly less quality than the 240. Were you recording the video thru a protective window to keep the liquid off the camera?
  • Are you able to manually focus?
  • How far away was the camera - were you zoomed in?
Thanks I hope this inspires others to do some vids I know I will. I'd like to see paintballs from golf tees. And ice cubes to name a few.

Hi KZ

480 fps is grainy, 1000 fps even more so. No no protective window... I didn't expect the water to splash that far. The camera was about 10 feet away and zoomed in a little bit. I was able to set the focus by manually depressing the shutter half way. Not sure if it can manual focus, never tried. I wasn't very impressed with anything higher than 240 fps. In fact I will probably try to use only 120 fps, then use my iMovie software to slow it down more.
