Events SoCal Inaugral 100yd benchrest.

Hey Mike,

Add about another 1.5 hrs to your drive to LD's place.

I volunteer as an RSO in exchange for a key to the facility so I can practice when the range is closed to the public .

Hopefully we will have some frames welded up for the 100yd targets I got from UtahAirguns .

Joe says we will have the competition with or without the frames.

Regards ,Gabe.

Gabe,

I can only assume you know better, but misswrote. We have never recognized the unlimited class in 25M benchrest, but have never banned guns that might have met that definitionin our new long range events. We have even sometimes llowed a guy to use a slightly over the limit gun with the advice he needed to "turn it down next time". You explained to me earlier you didn't feel competitive shooting guns of lesser power in the 25M class, despite realizing nobody else was using guns over 35fpe. Ok, that I get that, but don't say I recenctely banned your over-limit guns, as I have never never allowed em to begin with in 25M matches here. By only using guns between around 10 and 35 fpe, we have, for over about a decade of regular shooting here at the Temecula club, had reasonably fair, competitive, and enjoyable events, and just don't feel a class with unlimited power, weight, and use of one-piece rests fits in with our club matches. Fact is, NO sanctioned International rules matches allow that class to compete against other classes.

Every 100 yard or farther event we have held here has allowed guns that would have met the ":Unlimited Class" Benchrest rules as I know them, so for you to use that rationale to hold other such matches seems weird.

The rules below are most current that discuss Unlimited Benchrest 25M shooting using the International target as we do:

USA Unlimited Class:

  • .177, .20 and .22 calibers are allowed.
  • Any power level is allowed.
  • Any weight rifle is allowed.
  • .25 or larger calibers are allowed to compete for score at the discretion of the match director; given non compliance with WRABF scoring procedures, scores will not be recognized by USARB.
  • Rifles using electrically actuated or powered components, or computer processors and applications are allowed; these components need not be integral to the rifle.
  • Wind flags or anemometers sensing and transmitting data to a computer device or display are allowed.
  • Front rests using electrically actuated or powered components are allowed.
  • One piece rests are allowed.
  • Scopes transmitting or receiving data from a computer device are allowed.
  • Scopes may utilize illumination.
  • Tethered tanks are not allowed.
  • International scoring rules will apply.
  • Target distance will be 25 meters or 50 yards, at the discretion of the match director.

Gabe,

I’m assuming since you’re using the RMAC Targets that the match will follow the 100 yard Benchrest rules per the Airgun Sporting Association : 100 Yard Benchrest Rules and not the USA Unlimited Class rules for 25M and 50Y BR?

  • Caliber: Air Rifles .35 caliber and below are allowed.

  • Ammo: Must be mass produced, diabolo pellets. (Example: JSB Exacts, H&N Baracuda, etc.) No slugs or cast ammo allowed.

  • If a shooter believes their target was shot by another competitor, make it known IMMEDIATELY to a range officer by raising your hand and informing the RO. The disputed shot will be investigated at the end of the round.

  • Tethered tanks are not allowed.

  • One piece rests are allowed.

  • Muzzle must remain pointed safely downrange at all times.

  • Shooters may refill their guns as many times as necessary during each round. The gun must remain on the bench at all times. It is acceptable for shooters to keep their tanks near or under their bench during the round.

  • Wind flags/indicators must stay in your shooting lane.

  • If you are not at the line at the beginning of your scheduled round, you will not be competing in that round. No make-ups will be allowed.

  • Cell phones must be on silent and competitors may not use their phone for communication during their round.

  • Once you have completed your shooting, it is recommended that you remain at your bench until the time for your round has ended. Your gun must not leave your bench until the range is cold.

  • Guns must be transported from your case to the bench (or from the bench to the case) during a cold line, after the round has ended.

  • Cheating of any form will result in your immediate disqualification from the event.

Scoring and Format

  • 2 Qualifying Rounds shot at a distance of 100 Yards.
  • 1 Final Round at 100 Yards.
  • 25 targets. One shot allowed per scorable target.
  • Any shots over 25 in the target area will be a -10 on the total score.
  • Shots outside of the 4 ring on a given target will be scored a 3.
  • All rounds have a 30-minute time limit.
  • Bench positions will be randomly drawn for the qualifying rounds. Bench positions will be randomly drawn on-site for the Final round.
  • There will be 3 qualifying heats, of 40 shooters per heat.
  • Depending on the total number of shooters, a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 10 shooters from each heat will advance to the finals (max 30 shooters in the finals).
  • If there is a tie, the number of X’s will be used to break the tie.
  • A .35 caliber plug will be used for scoring.
  • Targets will be scored inward.

Target Dimensions

  • X Ring 0.200

  • 10 Ring 0.520

  • 9 Ring 1.350

  • 8 Ring 2.180

  • 6 Ring 3.840

  • 5 Ring 4.670

  • 4 Ring 5.500

Note: these targets (RMAC and PAC) are slightly larger than the ones used at EBR.

Hey Mike,

The rifle/pistol coordinator at the range mentioned that someone was at the range using an accurate airgun that inquired about airgun competitions. Joe mentioned that we could run an airgun competition alongside the few muzzleloaders that compete on the fourth Saturdays . I told Joe that the range should have a 100yd airgun competition so people in SoCal can have a place to practice longrange competitions like EBR, RMAC, PYRAMYD CUP. The closer we set up the competition towards those events will help the shooters be more prepared to shoot in those events.

Regards , Gabe .
