So, what's an Impact MKII really worth now?

I'm seeing a number of MKII's in the classifieds. Most include some addons like a scope or a power tune, but still, it's a MKII, and the MK3 was released yesterday. The cheapest I saw was $1850 today. considering retail for the gun is $2000, that's only a few bucks off. All seem to have a couple extra bits and bobs, but still, I'm after the gun. Are these guns really worth near retail to the buying public?

So, what would someone actually pay for a MKII today? Here's my listing and no it's not really for sale, but what is it worth to the buying public?

MKII, 700 mm barrel, Donny FL moderator (stock FX replacement). I've put 2 magazines through it, or 56 pellets. Cleaned the barrel, That's it.

I have a personal rule that I require 25% to 50% savings over new to consider used, so the most my 2 month old gun would be worth to me on the used market is about $1600, maybe a touch less.

Would any of you pay $1900 or $2000 for it, after the MK3 announcement? maybe I really don't understand airgun prices, maybe I'm just confused, so seeking answers.

I agree... Used, unless super pimped out, should sell for approx 20% less than new if in excellent condition. Of course if it has add-ons and upgrades that needs to be considered... So I'd say a stock Mk2 should sell for approx $1600 to $1700 to be a "good deal" and make sense for not buying a new M3. In this case there really isn't that much difference functionally except for the dual regs., and if your current reg works properly even that isn't much of a difference...

Keep the MK2.

As the containers not coming anymore as we got used to I would not be surprised the prices will jump.

I bought a set of high-end HiFi speakers back in 2004-5, these costed me not only arms and legs but also some kidneys and liver...these today on second hand market cost well over 3x more and ocasionally showing up in classifieds only for a day-or-two...

The FX airguns are high-end toys, there will always be somebody asking you to sell.

Time is changing my friends...

I am very intrigued with the easy tool less tuning and high 300bar fill ! But my mk2 25cal is tuned perfect for the nsa slugs, the only thing that I can do now is just improve myself as a shooter. I believe that if I would change caliber the new concept would only take seconds, out side of the tool for barrel and probe. The newer shooters that do not have an impact that want to shoot slugs this is a nice way to go.

The market is going to be a bit unstable for a few months, lots of things happening... You have the guys who want to dump their M2 now to get high on a pre-order list, you have guys that are testing the water and want to see if they can sell their m2 and upgrade to m3 for just a few bucks, you have guys who want to buy an m2 because they just want an impact and dont want to pay (or wait) for an m3, and you have guys who will try and flip m2's for profit during this unstable time.

Eventually when the dust settles, a USED stock m2 should be the price of a NEW maverick IMO.

If I can't save at least 20% shipped on a used item unless a very rare or no longer available item, I will buy new over used, with a warranty to me, as the original owner. Much higher and it doesn't even get a second look from me. I could not believe the prices on used Impacts the week before the announcement. A lot of those guns were sold at $1999, and some were asking $1900-no thanks.

All you guys selling your MK11s are making a knee-jerk decision. There's nothing wrong with these guns. Once tuned that way you like, what do you need more adjustment knobs and other junk for? Oh yeah, I forgot the quest for more velocity. Maybe you should consider a powderburner

Agree... Once they are tuned the way you want, what does it matter? The larger plenum is probably only beneficial in the .357 version, or .30 trying to get over 120 FPE. Yes, in the "quest" for more velocity, shooters tend to forget that accuracy trumps all else, and the higher power your gun, the harder it is to be accurate. There literally is no substantial benefit to shooting slugs over 900 FPS... Unless of course they are more accurate at higher speeds, which is not what I have observed. I shoot my .25 Impact X w/PP with 43.5 NSA at 885 FPS. Could I go faster? Of course, I don't even have the hammer weight or stronger hammer spring in my gun. But would it be better for hunting out to 250 yards? Probably not. To get slightly less drop, I would sacrifice a lot of shot count, and the gun would be significantly harder to shoot - and it would effectively be (for me) less accurate...

I think $1600-1700 is spot on for a used MKII, but the market will dictate.

I’m still rockin’ an MKI and love it. It works the same now as it did before the M3 was announced.

Bingo! I also have a MK1 that I won't sell either. Shot great a couple years ago, still shoots great now and I added the Power Plenum and the STX barrel system so once I get back to the range, probably shoots better than ever. I'll keep the two I have and maybe wait for the MK4 before I buy again.

Good to know others think the same way I'm thinking - 5% just isn't enough discount over buying new. 25% and better I'll think about.

The other issue at hand buying used is the previous owner's " pecker tracks " screwing up a good gun with some flavor of the week tweak, tune up, or add on power voodoo magic.

I have damn near gotten to the point of only buying used from maybe 1 or 2 guys that i know for a fact know what the hell they are doing..

I have bought my share of so called used guns in " great " shape , then ended spending many hours and a wad of cash correcting said pecker tracks....

as some have stated unless its at least 25% off , and an original owner i know and trust, i am done buying used...

it kinda sux too , everything i have sold i made damn sure it was at least as good as when it came off the line new..

Unfortunately its not just used guns that get screwed up, some of these " power tuners " are doing some pretty shady poop now days on brand new guns before they go out the door... Again i am down to basically 1 retail seller even on new guns..

My point is beware of the fire sales going on and be sure to ask all the right questions before dropping your hard earned cash
