So how fast do you shoot the Hades in .22?

Usually I try and keep my speeds in 900 fps range plus or minus depending on what the gun likes. Over the weekend I set my Veteran .22 up to shoot the JSB 25.4 gr Monster Redesigned pellets at 890 fps which is max my gun will do at the current reg settings. All factory I assume as I haven't touched it. Wow did it ever like them. So I plotted my turret out to 80 yards and put it up. Yesterday I went to my buddy John's house to shoot and we had a blast shooting our 3 .22 Huben's, Cricket .25, Liberty .22 and my Veteran Long .22.

He mentioned that he didn't have any guns that liked the Hades so his dad tried them in the Liberty probably pushing 930 or so as it was set up with 18 gr at 900 +. Well it didn't like them shooting about a 2" group at 38 yards. For the heck of it I loaded up a mag and shot them through my Veteran which were probably close to 1000 fps. Holy cow. I shot a ten shot group all in one hole about 3/8". Of course my Veteran will shoot just about any pellet good as I also shot the 18's at probably 950 or more and they also shot good. But now that I set it up with the .25's I hate to change it back. One thing I noticed is that at 38 yards all three pellets shot basically to the same POI with their respective speeds. I think these Hades would be super explosive on sparrows and starlings at that speed. Just curious if anyone is shooting them that fast and how far out they remain accurate. I am only estimating the speed though as the 25 at 890 is what my gun chronies at so I guestimated the others.

also all three of our Huben's were shooting great with the 25 gr JSB with them set between 900-930 fps.. It was raining and we were sitting in his garage shooting at the target 38 yards away plus at various objects farther away at 60 70 yards etc. We took turns shooting a metal paddle about 2" dia at 60 yards as fast as we could pull the trigger. I think both of us had 18 out of 19 hits. It was hard to stay on target as we would start laughing.

great times with John and his dad

They work great in an entry-level regulated PCP from DAR at 900fps. I was really skeptical of ever finding an expanding pellet that would rival a good dome but the Hades is the closest thing so far. No kidding, this is the first group I tried...the center circle is the size of an aspirin.

Very nice! I’ve been of the same perspective; only one PCP I’ve shot was dead on with Polymags. All others were not. I figured, what’s the point of shooting an expanding pellet that doesn’t hit its mark! Would rather shoot domes that are on point.

Fast forward to the Hades, haven’t gotten the opportunity to shoot the .25 but the .22 are mighty good. They are almost as good as the 15.9 & 18.13 JSBs in my compact Cricket at 890 fps. I like them.

Yes sir, I couldn’t agree more. Polymags have rarely been accurate enough for me beyond 40 yards or so for hitting the kill zone of a gray squirrel. The H&N Baracuda Hunter Extreme (cross-point head like a Philips screw) were accurate and although they didn’t expand much, they cut a devastating wound channel line a wadcutter.

This conversation reminds me, I need to get some scope cam footage with the Hades. Maybe Wednesday!

I wish I had more time off and the weather would cooperate as I would like to do some more shooting and experimenting. I'm going to try and get out this weekend and do some squirrel hunting and bird pesting if time allows. I'll post in the hunting gate if it works out.

Randy, I shoot Hades @760 fps from a Zbroia Kozak , gets very nice groups and opens up nicely at that speed , when it makes pest contact

PS; your Vet reg is untouched from factory

That's what I figured Jack. I've shot them at about 940 and had good results but I couldn't believe how accurate they were with the gun at max. I need to shoot a few over the chrony to verify speed so I'm just not guessing. I know with the 25's at 890 it is really hitting hard. As is the Huben .

I just verified that they are shooting 1070-1080 over the chrony and are very accurate at least to 40 yards, probably farther. I don't really intend to shoot them like that but it was fun to try and see what it would do. I set the gun for the 25s and I have a dozen tins on the way so that's what I'm going to use. For now anyway.

I still need to try them in my Huben yet too.

You gents have had better luck with them at seriously high speed. For me, the .22 Hades are just as accurate as polymags in the high 800's. "Accurate" for me = MOA or sub MOA at 50 yrds. Once mine hit 940 fps and above (Edgun R5M, standard) the groups really got sloppy, clearly indicating the pellets were destabilizing. At 1010 fps, 2+ inch groups. Ugh. Nope nope nope. I keep em at about 895 fps, seems to be a really sweet spot out of THIS gun.

I am shooting the Hades 26.54 at 830 out of my .25 Flashpup. And the JSB 25.39 at 860. Other than a flier now and then, I see no difference in accuracy at 50 yards and under.

I am shooting the Hades 15.89 at 970 out of my .22 Flashpup. And the JSB 18.13 at 930. Still no real difference at 50 yards.

Out of my .25 Mrod I am getting 850 with the 26.54 Hades. 880 with the JSB 25.39 and 780 with the JSB 33.95.

This is as fast as I care go with these rifles keeping the shot strings for each rifle that I like. All rifles are shooting nickole size groups at 50. I can go faster for a few shots. But I don’t think it would be a fair test. So, I have switched from the JSBs in all calibers and weights to only using the Hades. I don’t see enough difference in accuracy not to use them. Plus, I do like the expansion I am getting. Only problem is PA keeping
Them in stock.

Man I can wait to receive my .25 hades. I am dialing back my Mrod a bit 860fps was what I was aiming for.

Upgrading regulator to Huma to try and really get a more consistent fpe... as many shots at 41-43fpe is my goal...down from 53fpe with 33.95's....
