smooth twist vs smooth twist-X accuracy?

The X Barrel and Liners A & B I recently got rid of as a failed experiment on my Streamline were extremely dirty barrels. For example, I would clean the B Liner and start shooting groups and the first couple groups would be good, but after that the groups would start to go bad... dropping shots an inch or more low. So I would run a patch through the barrel and it would come out very black and dirty. After thoroughly cleaning the barrel again it would shoot ok but then after a couple mags it would shoot badly again.

In contrast, my Streamline's factory SmoothTwist barrel almost never needs cleaning. Once in a blue moon I will run a dry patch through and it barely shows any color on the patch. I used the same pellets for the X Barrel liners as I always do. I suspect that either the increased amount of rifling in the bore or the small bore size, or both, causes a lot of lead to rub off the pellets as they pass through, thereby causing the liners to get so dirty so fast. Also, when I pushed a pellet through the Liner with a cleaning rod the skirt of the pellet did not have rifling marks on it... the skirt was smeared out longer and shiny, as if the skirt was dragging itself through the rifling.

All I can say is that I didn't like the X Barrel and it's Liners enough to keep it... I gave it away to someone just for the shipping costs. I feel like I threw away $370.00 + shipping on something that will never be comparable to the accuracy of my original SmoothTwist Barrel.

Best regards, Chuck

Have to say, I cleaned my .30 Impact ST barrel for the first time. Just soaked a few patches w/ cleaner and pushed them down the barrel w/ a guide rod. First one, I'm like, well, that's awfully clean. So I added a few more patches trying to tighten it up and did it again. Even cleaner.

My Impact has 10+ tins of 50gr down her throat and was never cleaned by me. Maybe AoA did it when they pre-checked the gun, but I've never cleaned it till now.

That's w/ the ST barrel. It's a tack driver too. 175yds on the Long Ranger, trimming golf tees at 50 yds in an informal competition w/ my buds, and if I'm doing my part it'll punch the centers from bulls at 75yds.

Reading all of this I'm not sure I even want or need an X barrel.

I'm about to send it off to Ernest for some hopups as he's got goodies and tuning which will get her pushing that 50gr to 950fps. Yea baby, here comes bull punching at 100 yds!

I don't think so. One of the big selling points for the X barrel system is price. I believe it is around $150, but I am not sure. The Impact is different because it needs both, the inner and outer barrel... Thanks, Kmd

LOL. Someone (of course done anonymously) called me an idiot for this ^ comment?! Seriously? Who ever you are, you are an idiot. What I don't get is, where the heck is the admin or moderator that runs rhis sh*t show? They should go ahead and remove negative feedback given for stuff like this. Not that it matters to me. Not at all. But it will help make the ones that leave negative feedback, for a post like mine, less important...

Kmd

EDIT: Changed the word to sh*t.

"Having a fat whine again and yanking a thread off topic"

LOL. Fat whine? Not at all. You are the one whining. And the way you choose to do it, is to go and leave negative feedback. Anonymously of course. So not only are you whining but you are also a coward.

Off topic. Sure. My apologize to the OP.

P.s. Leaving negative feedback now did what exactly? HA HA.
