smooth twist vs smooth twist-X accuracy?

back to the original question: do the X-twists need to be shot at a certain fps only for it to group? just like the smooth twist?

there are countries when limits apply, would help guys if someone did an experiment with group sizes as a function of fps with both smooth twist and x barrel.

"AirSupply"He did do an interesting video where explained why he thought the Guns like the impact with is magazine had an advantage over the pure BR rifles with single shot loading. 
I had wondered why guns like the RAW which are obviously very accurate BR rifles don't do a better. 
Short version is they can't quickly take advantage of consistent wind.

Because it’s the shooter mostly, rifle is really only as accurate as the shooter is. Windy conditions and not knowing how to shoot in them also play havoc on shooting. Maybe Martin will sponsor me to come show y’all boys who’s the best shooter with a RAW rifle. I’d even shoot my Frankenstein Jager against all. I mean it’s only shooting a 45 cal hole for 10 shots at 100 yards.

I understand that you cannot change caliber without the full barrel kit. However, doesn't this mean that since the Crown already has "half" the barrel kit (the outer part), you would only need the inner part to change calibers?! And the pellet probe, or whatever it is called? Anyhow, the inner part should not be as expensive as the whole kit, correct?

At least that was my understanding.

I would assume that the shroud/assembly is caliber specific, sure you can buy a liner for .22 if you have a .25. What about the barrel inlet? This would necessitate a different barrel inlet assembly that the liner threads into on the breech side. To fit a different caliber pellet/probe and have a different sized TP.

This is just how I understand it, this is why the caliber change kit isn't simply a barrel liner and a pellet probe as I understand. As usual I maintain the right to be completely wrong ;)

"CHUCK"Another way of looking at this would be to take a normal smooth twist Barrel and just go ahead and press the rifling into the entire length of a smooth twist barrel and viola! You would have a smooth twist barrel with rifling that runs the entire length that would fit on every FX rifle ever made! And ones like this could be made with Different Twist rates to shoot the longest pellets or slugs or whatever ! Instead of this stupid sleeve with these stupid liners for god sakes! Whoever came up with this stupid idea of a barrel sleeve with interchangeable liners for God sake?

Not looking to start an argument here but just some observations, nothing has changed as far as I know from the beginning of advertising. (other than the wait time) Yes they announced it too early, past the point of watering mouths.

Want to change calibers, you need a caliber specific pellet probe and complete barrel assembly because of the inlet. 400$ or whatever This is the same as the impact, no big shocker there. 

Want to keep the same caliber but change twist rates? That's cheaper because you only need the liner that threads into your existing breech side of the inlet. 150 or so.

Why can't they just take a smooth twist and do that the length of the barrel? Well because they cut the barrel WAY down in thickness to do the process, I don't know about you but I don't want an 1/8th inch thick unsupported barrel.

Why can't they just make one barrel that fits all guns? The same reason you can't put a Boss barrel on a Royale, different breech diameters because certain platforms have the option of .30 and most do not. So not one barrel to rule them all.

This is new technology, yeah it's not coming as fast as we all would like but being able to have 3 twist rates for the same caliber for 300$ more than the cost of the gun is game changing. I think it's a wise move other than announcing it too early.

In this video here (skip to 02:30), Matt describes pretty good what the Smooth Twist X Barrel System is all about. Unless I am really stupid, or did not really pay that much attention (which I did not, I admit), it looks like you only have to change the "inside part" or liners, in order to switch twist rate, caliber and what not...

So, the shroud is on the outside (obviously) and stays the same, The "barrel" is also the same. The only thing that changes is the liner. Now, if you ask me, this is how I would have done it as well... : ). Keep most parts as possible and only change what you have to, which in this case is the liner...

And by the way a barrel doesn't have to be an eighth of an inch thick to have rifling inside its full length... People make hammer forged barrels with rifling their full length every day of the week... It's just a different type of rifling. So I see no reason why that smooth spiral could not be imparted using a hammer forging process instead of a twisting process.
