Smart Watch question.

I've heard a few of you use smart watches and ballistic apps like Strelok. So they actually run on the watch or just mirror your smart phone? Could you give me a recommendation? Android. My wife thinks I need a smart watch and like everything 'need' or just make life easier. Ya right, like computers made everything easy ;-) My fitbit broke and I kind of miss the heart rate summary.

Thanks

Not a smart watch fan but I am using an activity tracker watch from day one these became popular, I tried several brands and ended up with Garmin ecosystem years back. I am biking, hiking, surfing, paddling as much the weather permits, and I am trying a healthy lifestyle, I am also 62.

My son had also several smart watches to the very high end, and he's mayor complain was (vs my activity/fitness trackers) he had to charge those watches like every night.

The main difference will be a battery life and the activity trackers (like my Garmin Venue2) I am mostly charging only every weekend) will monitor your health status as well, it is entertaining also makes you "move".

Be aware of one thing and the most important....all of these sync with your cellphone in real time and that reflects on battery life.

I have collected some droid tablets over the years, I pick one and load the FX Radar app also the Streloc Pro on that larger screen.

I'm just not a watch guy. I retired in 1997. It's rare for me to need to know what time it is and my phone which I also do not like is sufficient when I do.

yep! I'm not looking for a watch or a simple step counter. AT 73 I can guess the time. HR min max and so on are interesting. Sometimes it's quicker and easier to look at your wrist rather than dig out your phone. Of course most of incoming information is just another number to block 😒 . Thanks for the suggestions so far.

@rsfrid & @bighun ditto.

I like the smart watches though i have not had one, and really i do prefer classic watches for the mechanical engineering.

And i am not needing any activity tracker as there would not be much to track these days.

My last bicycle it did get a computer on it, which back in 1989 - 90 was something fairly new, and in spite of me just using it for transport in general i still managed to log 4500 KM in the 7 moths or so before that bike too got stolen.

All of my bikes have gotten stolen, aside for the 2 last one which was flatted by a truck making a R turn in front of me, but a few of the fine Italian Campagnolo parts was salvageable, and those was on my last racer.

As a kid ( 11 and up ) i have cycled many many 1000 km, and sneakers i could also wear a hole in the sole just in the school summer break, and often 2 pairs over the entire summer season, and all i did was run from trouble,,,, which i encountered a lot as a kid, and most often not trouble i was to blame for.
