Small Metal Spinners Hard to Find

I love shooting small metallic spinners. They last a very long time and you can just leave them up year 'round. Only problem is finding a source that is available, smaller than 2 inches, and reasonably priced and suitable for higher powered airguns. I have been using the birchwood Casey spinners because the are relatively small at 3.62" - 2.25" - 1.62" Circles and are built for rim fire use. I have them set up at 50, 57, 62, 72, 83, and 98 yards and they stay up permantly installed placing them 1/4'round by 3 ft tall galvanized steel tubing driven into the ground. They are sturdy and withstand 10s of thousands of hits from .177 up to 80 FPE .30 cal. With over 3 years of almost daily shooting, I've only ever broken one of the smallest 1.6 inch target using the .30 cal. Snapped it off hitting the thinner portion up top where it connects. http://www.gunniesonline.com/product.birchwood-casey-46322-qualifier-spinner-targets-steel Last year, I watched too many airgun YouTube videos and I noticed our friends in the U.K. Like to shoot "garden spinners/targets" which are small metal spinners on lag bolts screwed to fence posts or trees. Far as I could tell though, they were specifically designed for sub 12 FPE shooting. Curiousity got the best of me and a search of U.K. eBay turned up the Jack Pyke "mini spinner targets" which I promptly ordered. They come in a pack of 4 with 20mm, 25mm, 30mm, and 40mm targets. I was doubtful that they would hold up to the pounding of 30-80 FPE. After a year or so of smacking them, I can say they can definitely stand up to FAC rated airguns provided you don't miscalculate hold over and get a direct hit on a lag bolt. To date, I have accidently bent one lag bolt with an errant 60 FPE .25 JSB Fat King 34gr. The closest spinner is at 32 yards and the furthest at 87 yards. I screwed them into dead trees that were still standing. Observations - once the paint comes off, they are pretty stealthy and hard to see unless you know where they are. They are quieter when hit than other metal targets, I think because the tree absorbs much of the sound. It is very easy to see when they are hit. This week, I received my order of 4 packs of 4 each mini spinners at I bought from country field sports in U.K. For the 4 packs (16 total targets) and shipping, it was only about $60. About $10 per pack plus $20 for intl shipping. Can wait to hang them up! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jack-Pyke-Metal-Spinning-Targets-4-Pack-Air-Gun-Rifle-Pistol-Shooting-Practice/291784527018?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D40656%26meid%3D0f2a49e5191b4137a23866753a255b89%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D6%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D131960842731 if you have another source of reasonably priced metal spinners smaller than 2 inches , please post them up.

I made some myself, I got some metal blanks from a metal fabrication shop where they press out the bolt holes from plate steel they range from15mm, 18mm & 22mm Diameter, I made some that were freestanding by welding 1 circle to the other also some spinners they are from 5mm thick to 10mm thick & have been shot hundreds of times the ones I made up were prototypes & the welding is poop (I'am not a boilermaker). I was originally going to get a boilermaker to do them properly as they looked poop on the weld but only 1 snapped at the weld so I have left them.
If you ask at any fabrication/machine shop they will probably have hundreds & let you have them for free. Also the ones I made have a dimple on them which sounds awesome when you hit them perfectly square.
I will try to upload some photos when I get some.

Plumber strap & washers are low cost & easy.

There is a guy here in the uk on the airgun forum called Hairyarms who makes excellent metal targets at reasonable prices

he makes his from 3mm stainless but I am sure he could make some from 4mm if you were to ask.

his resettable 6mm target is particularly tricky.

would you like me to contact him on your behalf?

edit, I have contacted mr hairyarms, he has made some small heavy duty spinners in the past but the cost of materials and postage to the US are prohibitive.

This U.K. Blacksmith makes spinners as small as 15mm , which is pretty challenging at 50-60 yards.

i previously ordered a couple of the targets 2 years ago and they have been on my range since. I did see on eBay.co.uk that he no longer ships to the USA. They are made of 4mm thick steel and rated to 40fpe. They will take a beating.
