Slugs and STX

Well, a few nights ago, i thought I’d made a big discovery, turns out i was wrong! I unknowingly “pre-ordered” a 700mm slug liner thinking they were in stock. Along with 400 slugs of different types, and well, after finding out my liner wouldn’t be here until after the new year i had to do something will all of my new projectiles so i ran them through the standard STX barrel and boy..... was that a bust! After seeing many questions on here asking about if they would perform through the STX, my answer after testing is no. At 35 yards, i don’t think I’d bet on any of the 4 to hit a coke can every time. BUT, i will say i didn’t change any settings on my gun because the JSB’s are pounding. So maybe someone else can try it out and bring better news to the table, but for now, it’s going to be pellets until the slug liner arrives!

And this is why I won't even try shooting slugs out of my ST-X liner. When I asked Matt Dubber about this a couple months ago, he advised me to wait for the Slug-X liner, and why in the world would I not follow that advice. Same with Roelf from Air Hunters......I asked him which weight of NSA slugs would he recommend shooting out of my Crown 22 w/ 500mm barrel. He recommended the 19gr at 930-950fps. So I ordered a bunch of those and will tune for that velocity.

Yes, FX has stated that the initial Slug-X liners were developed around the NSA line of slugs. Matt and others have proven this combination works. I will do some accuracy testing as soon as I get the liner and the gun set up for them. I'm expecting 1" groups at 100yds.....no reason I have seen that this is not possible.

:)

Oh yeah, I’d definitely take Matt’s advice! I just wish the .25 liners would be ready soon so i can start slinging some of these slugs! I’m super pumped to see the 100 yard results!!!
