Slugs and springers

Yes I have tried it out of a .22 springer that ran extremely hot (never had accuracy because of the speed). It did shoot the slug, an NSA, but it was not accurate either. I would avoid it for anything shooting less than 820fps depending on the gr of the slugs and the total length. Your lands in your barrel will cause more friction on most slugs. Try a hybrid type like that H&N model.

Personally save the slugs for a PCP, says I.

You PCP users that are shooting slugs in pellet barrels might want to check out Vetmx post on his barrels..... I am sticking with Pellets until someone can tell me 100% I am not screwing up my pellet barrels with slugs, My guns that shoot pellets are as accurate as can be, Now if I had one that was not super accurate I might say what the heck, I will try slugs, But at my 48 to 49 yard range there is just NO reason to even try to use slugs..

Lead is soft steel is hard you are not going to screw up your barrel with lead projectiles. Although slugs will cause your barrel to lead up, much faster than pellets, as it sticks to the barrel imperfections though. This will cause poor accuracy and eventually lower velocities. It can be hard to clean the lead out as well. That is one reason so many of us lube our slugs.

If you manage to get several slugs stuck in your barrel you may damage it getting them out though.
