Slug Tuning. Calling all slug experts!!!

Okay, i have officially watched every video i can find on slugs ATLEAST 3 times and still, i struggle to get my .25 700mm liner to shoot. If i was happy with 2” groups at 100, i might settle with what i have now. But here i sit after watching Matt’s new video shooting ground squirrels at 200+ yards and wonder where I’m going wrong. I’ve tried Nielsen and VK slugs of various weights and speeds anywhere from 880-970, tried to harmonically tune my impact, tried MAX, A,B,5, and 4 on the hammer wheel, still spinning my wheels. Cleaned the liner, not cleaned the liner, lube, don’t lube, and it’s all the same results. And i promise, it’s the bow, not the Indian. I just tuned a buddies .30 MKll around .85” average at 100 with me shooting... thing is a beast. So at this point, someone just tell me where to send it. I’ll pay to have this thing tuned for sub MOA groups. I’m starting to think it’s impossible with my gun/liner combo.

I’m in the same boat Kerbow, so far not satisfied at all knowing I’m shooting the best slugs for the gun, at least I think I am. I can shoot the Heavies well but I was really wanting a good 150yd slug shooter. I’m going to try a few more things with mine and see if I can tighten the groups up. Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in. I shot these groups yesterday and as you can see not really all the great. I have a 30cal barrel kit I can throw on it but I'd rather stick with the slugs if I can make them work.

I am no expert. I had very similar results during my testing and it was a long, frustrating process to figure out my first slug liner. Many people I talked to with the .25 cal. FX liner experienced similar results and there wasn’t much info. available for the .25 liner to help us out. During the course of testing I did find a couple of things that tightened up my groups. First, I polished my barrel. The first time I lightly polished it and there was little effect. The second time I polished it, I was much more aggressive and it helped shrink the group size. I also lubed all of my slugs which helped a bit. After my group size got a lot smaller with fewer fliers, I narrowed down the slugs to the 3-4 that were shooting the best. I found that the best slugs all had a slightly dished or flat base and a large hollow point. From there it was a slow and deliberate process to find the best tune. This was with a 600mm liner in .25 cal. I just received a 700mm liner for my .25 Impact a few days ago and started testing again. This time I’ll test the 4 best performing slugs from previous testing and some of Nick Nielsen’s new slugs.

Not sure what you're asking exactly.

Once I got the velocity tuned to 940fps, I reduced velocity in very small increments, shooting a 3-shot group each time. When none of it panned out, I changed the reg pressure and started back over at 940fps.

Fine tuning is done with the valve adjuster. You could also do it with the hammer spring if you choose.

Sorry Bob, is you ok, with the valve adjuster when you finish the first time and no have the three shots in one hole your valve adjuster stay in the first line for example, when you start again of new tuning you take the valve to four line or you start in the line one(from bottom to top). Thank you for your patience
