Slug sizing die

Does anybody know who makes a slug sizing die for .249”? I guess more accurately, who makes the best one? Can I use these types of sizing dies with my centerfire reloading press? I’ve seen it discussed here before but couldn’t find anything. I tested a whole bunch of slugs a while back, they were all .250” and shot well. The one that shot exceptionally well, I only had 25 of to test and they were .249”. They are not made anymore so I thought I would just try sizing the best shooting VK to .249” and see if it helps with accuracy? Any thoughts? Thanks and have a great weekend.

HI Stoti , here is what I use , NOE, LEE LYMAN,RCBS ,

when I have to get a special bullet sizer I always go lee and have them made , and for the heavier slugs I use a lube amatic press

here is what I use and all work great , the lubeamatic is better for bigger slugs LOU

PS , I have tried all sizing lubes out there and 1 I found is the very best and will last a very very long time , like 1 drop does 100 slugs here is where to get it it is called SWAG LUBE

@stoti I see I was beat to a reply. This is the best way to go for sizing since you can cover many calibers and diameters with a fairly small cost. Just always make sure to match Air Gun to Air Gun Parts where available. I once tried a .25 normal push rod only to find that it was too large for the Air Gun Bushing I was using.

I would suggest getting a few sizing dies in different diameters . Some barrels like a tighter fit then others and the only way to find out what your barrel likes is to test. I have full sets in both .22 and .25 and the odd time I’ve opened up the die .0001” at a time to get the perfect fit for a specific barrel. In 25 cal I’d get .248” to .252” and everything in between . I’m presently working on a small handheld press that I can put in my range bag so I can size at the bench to get the right combo . Right now I’ve got a lee press mounted upside down on my mobile shooting bench that works ok but is a little big .

Sorry for the ancient thread revival. Most of the above links are dead (404 not found).

I am in the very early stages of learning about figuring out airgun bullets.

I did find some stuff on NOE's website for airgun bullet sizing. What do you guys do for the half sizes (say .2495")? They only list in .001" increments. What if you wanted to try something like .2493"?

And do NOE's dies work with the Lee press?

Maybe I should just contact them, huh?

Stoti…,the NOE dies work nicely, but they are subject to tolerance like any machined part. A .249 die might vary 5 tenths or more. You can easily open up a die by spinning it in a drill press or lathe and using some sandpaper wrapped around a stick or something. I usually get dies a thou smaller than I need and open them up to exact size.
