InB4: Yes, I could theoretically shoot lighter ammo, but I don’t want to. I want to shoot big fat slugs.

So, I love my NSA slugs, I have a .25 Armada, but these 55gr NSA fat boys do not go into the breach easily. Not at all. I gotta jimmy, jiggle, jam, and push the bolt to get it in, followed by a Judo chop. They shoot just fine, but the level of effort required to seat them hurts my delicate, tiny hands.

I loaded this one, then backed it out with a cleaning rod, and took a picture. I don’t know why, it just seemed right at the time.

I got one suggestion to have a gun-smith alter the lead-in, but I’m also wondering if perhaps there’s a good purpose-build slug barrel for Armadas / Marauders?

How does one hone their own throat? 🤔

easiest way is roll up a piece of ~600grit paper real tight , you may have to adjust the size a couple times till you get it just big enough to go in, then chuck it lightly in a drill .. and its directional so chuck it the right way, and trim the paper squarely so its not all out of shape ... load a pellet in your breech and measure the depth and mark the paper roll ... you dont want it much longer than that so it stays pretty stiff .. you can leave the pellet in there to, but its best to feather it alittle deeper than that will let you ... it wont cut fast with 600 .. just work on it till that pellet goes in like butter ...oh, and if theres a seal in there get it out first, and the barrel being removed is a given, so again, check your depth/load a pellet etc before you get it apart so you know where your at ...

Did you mic the slug?

What does that mean?

Measure with a micrometer. I have a similar reloading press from Lee, you can size them down so they don't bite so hard in your barrel. Probably 100$ or so in equipment. Lee press and NOE sizing dies.

Just checked Lee’s website. doesn’t look like they have anything for .25. 😩
