SLR98, Bringing it online after a looong nap.

When I took possession of this SLR about a year ago it was very obvious it hadn't been used much at all, by appearence and function, (the feel of the trigger & cocking action ect). Since 2010 I've had the privilege of "breaking in" two new SLR's and a newly resealed one plus an RM100 gas ram (my name's sake). What I've learned about these SLR's is they don't shoot to there potential out of the box, (by no means!) they need to be broken in by shooting and the triggers tweeked, at least all my gas rams did. This most recent SLR also was in storage 10 to 15 years! I've decided, instead of a "static" display of this gun I would see what she would do by following my normal break in protocal...considering the state of the trigger it was almost unshootable and accuracy was impossible...the trigger turned out to be an easy fix, the pivot pin had machining chatter (bad) on it giving it a grabbie gritty feel...a good polishing and grease...done, plus tweeking the ball detent adjuster as everything improve with shooting/cleaning the barrel now and then... in less than a tin of pellets the results have been dramatic...trigger and cocking are improving with every shot and accuracy/consistency are improving, even the muzzle report is vastly improved. My crony and pellets are in storage (moving to Fla) and my only pellets on test are CPHP's, I would love to try JSB 14.35's in it, my other SLR's loved them, the two 10 shot groups were shot in a stiff wind off my knee at 25y, I can't do much better with those pellets in my Veteran, so hopefully better to come with this SLR...dosn't appear that the long nap effected function at all, cleaning the barrel at this point two wet one dry is all it takes... it's gunna' be a good one...just like the others I had!
