Size, form issue.

For the first time in 40 tins of HN FTT .22 pellets I am getting under size and poorly formed pellets. These are the 5.54 /.218 diameter pellets. In a tin of 500 last week I had three drop down the barrel and stick in the choke of my D34. I had to tap them out with a cleaning rod. Sixty some others fit loosely in the breech with no engraving at all. Naturally they flew with no accuracy at all. I ended up carefully extracting the loose ones with a drywall screw inserted into the skirt. About 65 rejects in that tin.

Today I opened another tin and had the same problems with a few right away. I measured several bad ones and had sizes ranging from 5.46 /.215 to 5.38 /.212, it was the .212's that stuck in the choke. I pulled out my Teslong bore scope for an up close comparison photo of a good .218 pellet on the left and a .212 poorly formed pellet head on the right. I have 10 tins of this lot number on hand.

Anyone else having this problem?

Not with those pellets but with others yes. Many of us have noticed the decline in quality of our ammunition lately. Not that it didn't happen in years gone by as well. It really sucks when you find something that shoots really well in a gun so order a bunch of tins only to find they shoot horribly and plainly are just not quite the same size as the pellet in your original tin. ;^( Grrr...

I think that's called the pellet lottery. I had purchased a tin of Hatsan Vortex Express(H&N FTT) that averaged 4.49-4.51 and and the tin stated 4.51 but when I decided to resupply I ended up getting pellets averaging 4.54-4.56 but still labeled 4.51....thats quite a swing and they a lot more finger pressure so seat in the leade...

I realized manufacturers likely change thier dies fairly often I just wish they would label their tins appropriately.

The same problem with JSB. I have some pcp rifles .177,.22,.25 that were shooting pellet size or a little larger groups with older jsbs at 50 yards. With todays pellets not one can do that no mater what caliber quality droped to much. Now only the Hades groups good out to 60 yards but I am affraid to order some more because I don't know what I will get.

Few days back I receive 5 tins of. 25 JSB kings. At 50 yards my Vulcan and Veteran group well over inch. Which is not good.
