Obviously I’ve been enjoying taking some old time rifles out to help control the chipmunk 🐿 situation.
This is in approximately 100 year old BSA Standard in 177. This is a shorter or carbine version. It is also very petite. Kind of like carrying around a 100 year old English R7.
it is light weight. It is accurate. And as you can see it hits hard. They were both clean pass throughs. One was at approximately 28 yards one was at approximately 24. I was hoping to get closer shots for this rifle. I didn’t need them.
I scored a total of three in four shots. Again, I blew a shot right by one of the 🐿s heads. And he foolishly sat there while I reloaded.
The shot cycle is so smooth and quiet. I believe this is because it has a leather piston seal. The trigger is absolutely amazing. And the open sites are very precise. I took a picture of the site, it actually has graduations and adjustments for 10 to 30 meters.
This would probably be my very favorite of all the rifles I’ve tried. I had never really shot it before. I picked it up during one of the recessions, shot it a few times and put it away. I wonder how long it’s been since it rolled a chippy?
Penny of course retrieved both chippies. As soon as I shoot and she hears the whack, she looks up at me, and I give her the go ahead she runs right to the chipmunk.
