Sillhouette gun recommendation

Something to remember is, a lot of the modern PCP air rifles have thicker forends than are legal for NRA Silhouettes. But the thick fronds are easier to shoot offhand. If your not needing to comply with their rules.

Why not use a .22?

I looked it up and found this. Hope it helps. Doesnt say anything about fpe in open airgun class.

I didn't explain well. if you look at a PCP bottle gun the distance from the center of the bore to the bottom of the frond is greater than the 2.25" max.the rifles that look more conventional like the Air Arms 400, 500 and the Daystate Regal Huntsman. I bought my first PCP so I could practice shooting Silhouettes at home several years ago, then I bought a Air Arms S400 it did me well. Last year I bought a Daystate Huntsman. I tried shooting Field Target with it and its a blast, but the Clubs around me don't shoot locally during the summer so its back to shooting silhouettes. Both of the rifles I own are plenty accurate for silhouette shooting. My Daystate is shorter and I like that personally oh and with a moderator its really quiet. I don't have a Air Arms dealer around me to look at their rifles I assume they as good. AOA had that Daystate shoot here while back. I had the opportunity to shoot the regulated Wolverine offhand and could shoot that better offhand than anything I have tried, it has the thicker forend and I can see there is a definite advantage with the thick forend. hope to have helped.

If you like air arms MPR might suit you and be within all the rules.

We are pole vaulting over mouse droppings again. PLEASE, first read the rules. The link was posted above and ALL NRA shooting rules are available online. Almost any air rifle will work for silhouette (unless it damages the targets) depending on which of the three classes you would like to shoot in. Perhaps a better place for this particular discussion might be on steelchickens.com.

My Airarms S510 works great and is pleny accurate. I use it for small bore silo practice. The 10 meter scaled paper targets work great in the basement. 

Now if I can only stop with the coffee.........
