Silence is golden!! Which is the quietest PCP rifle

Sure report is a subjective issue and regulator and hammer tension is also sure to affect the overall noise level. Let's think around 850 - 900 fps, no caliber restriction.

Helps very little if the muzzle report is quite down and the hammer bangs. So overall.

What have you found to be the quietest report including valve release (or action) moderated PCP? Just looking for some opinions and recommendations for when silence is priority only second to accuracy.

Yeah, a pretty subjective question you've got there !

As from the factory, or with an oil filter sized suppressor, maximum power or enough power to spit the pellet out to make it fly well ? Please explain...

From the the shooters position, my RTI Prophet Compact is pretty quiet with the Daystate baffles in the shroud. Like you say, mostly what I hear is the mechanical noise (not really a "pinging" sound!) from the receiver and a very muffled report from the barrel. My Pulsar is fairly quiet in the mid pellet fps setting.

The quietest I had was a Red Wolf HP .177 and it was also extremely accurate.

Jeez, what a question. I assume you know that longer barrel, lower power, lower veolcity, smaller callibre, high efficiency plenum and reg, these all contribute to lower sound. From personal experience, if sound is a key factor, then always choose something that you can add a, or change the moderator on it. That you you can always improve without selling the gun or needing a gunsmith.

Second key factor is calibr and power. If you need real power and low sound, you need long barrel, which rules out the rifle format, and point you straight to bulpup config. The best thing then is to get an Edgun r5 long or superlong in .25 or .30 with larger plenum and huma reg. But very hard to find. Alternative would be a taipan long in .25.
But overall most silent accurate gun would be a taipan long .22 (have not seen a long in .177 yet) with an additional moderator on it. And it has good trigger and is accurate. Get the std if the long would make it too long, I am sure you can tweak it to be just as silent but slightly less powerful. Keepin mind it is not the lightest. If you want the same but lighter, get an Edgun R3 .22 std with one of donnys custom 1/2 unf adapters and a big can on it: mine was silent light and accurate. But probably again may be hard to find.

so as blackpaw said, taipan.

The quietest gun I ever didn’t hear was a Allen Zasadney custom shrouded .177 Daystate that was shooting in the 900’s.

It was so quiet that it sounded like a malfunction when you shot it, just a little click/ping and the loud wack of the impact.

I was so impressed that I’ve ordered the quietest shroud he can make for a custom rifle he’s doing for me. It’s going to be long but extremely quiet. I’ll definitely be posting about it as soon as I get it.

From the factory, the Benjamin Kratos is super quiet, especially on 3/4 power setting and further adding a moderator like a Donnyfl Sumo takes all but the mechanical sounds away.
As far as the quietest overall.... I have an Armada in .25 that I have done a bit of work on. It has a Hill depinger and Peek striker, it has a shortened shroud also from Tim Hill and uses an older Donnyfl Tanto (which is oddly quieter than the newer tantos I have for some reason) the Armada also has an old WAR valve and a lighter hammer spring. It makes full power on a 1900psi fill and sounds as if you’d pulled the trigger on an air rifle with an empty air tank. Literally no sound except the very soft sound of the hammer.

Lol I agree..

Could get expensive, depending on how many neighbors you’d need to buy for.

It "sounds" like Daystate and Taipan or something custom takes the quiet cup. I have a spa p10 which I think is a rip on the wildcat mk1. Has a bit of hammer ping and bounce but with the shroud extended its pretty quiet.

What I don't understand (might be talking under correction) is why Daystate uses an electro-mechanical hammer instead of a timed solenoid valve? ANyone know if the Delta Wolf is equally quiet. Have one eye on that one...

Will be checking the custom shroud guys out.

What is it with Mike's and airguns!? :)

Haha. My rats will probably skimp on the personal protective wear.
