Sig Sauer MCX CO2

I am thinking in take a plunge on one of those, does anyone have one, or knows about these guns?, it will be for a project rifle, intended for a few mods, etc....

Please chime in if one of you guys have or have an experience on these rifles, it's a CO2 in .177 cal, I have a few ideas that I would like to put in practice to mod one of those

Have one, had a ton of fun with it for a couple weekends with my son. So much so that I bought extra mags, a box of the co2 and a bunch of cheap pellets for it.... All of which have been sitting for months. Let me know if I can help, never did anything with it but shoot it those few weekends tearing some tin cans to shreds. (oh, and unless your arms are crazy long , skip the HPS tank PA advertises for them. HPA works fine but that tank with that adapter are unusable, Sold that set after one fill, one can/target)

Thanks for that, I was thinking in convert it HPA but not with the PA tank and adapter, I would, of course get HPA thank and machine my own adapter for it and also change a few things, like barrel stabalizer etc.. and othe mods, just for fun, I like the looks of it, also I know it's a, kinda heavy gun but would be fun project. How reliable are they?...if you don't mind me asking.

Never had an issue with 2-3 tins of pellets through it over those few weekends but that really is the only use it's seen. Hardest part is loading the belts and inserting them into the mag the right way. Not hard just seems the opposite of the way I'd do it. Don't expect better than tin can accuracy at 20ish yards at least as stock, I have the short barrel, long may be better.

Actually, the weight feels about right for what it is. It holds well.

Now you have me in the mood to get mine back out...Maybe I'll do a 20y target tonight.

Sweet, thanks for the replies, as any co2's rifles/guns, we cannot expect a lots of power but with a few mods (for fun, that is) I think that can be done, I believe that they (Sig) suppose to launch a PCP version of it...NOT sure), I am thinking, machine a new valve, take the trigger belt indexing out, just as a PCP that you have to cock it and etc, etc, just for fun, as they are not very pricey guns and they look the part , like the real ones...

I had an issue with my HPA tank where it was putting out too much PSI causing my FPS to only be 325fps I was really bummed as everyone else was getting 450-500+fps. With Co2 the gun was shooting 430-475fps. I sent the tank back to PA but it has been with them for a month now. I got word they will be shipping it back this week. I think they just accepted it as a return and are shipping another one instead of tweaking the regulator on the one I received. At 15-25yd it puts all the pellets in about an inch group or less. I really enjoy this gun for some fun at the house. With a red dot on it it is very accurate for the price.

The HPA regulator should be putting out max 1100psi as co2's, I believe puts out between 850/950 if I am not wrong, so with HPA putting out 1100/1200 max and a good barrel, maybe would be ok.

I believe the barrels on these guns are held by the shroud (MCX), so if stablelize the barrel better (like barrel bands) to avoid slopping when fire, maybe the accuracy will increase a bit, I had a Crosman 1077, and the barrel was a bit loose inside the shroud, I just machined a piece of delrin and secure it, them the accuracy improved from night to day at 20m.

I have been watching a lots of reviews/videos about this gun, there is a guy that shot cans at 40yrds with it. For what I been gathering about this gun, the mag it's an issue as deform the pellets when you sit them in.

I am in Brazil at a moment, soon as I go back home to SA, I will buy one as a project gun, it will be fun, may change to a .22 cal, as I have a few barrels laying around.

If anybody else has more info on this, please chime in as more info the better, I want to know all your thoughts about these guns.

I have a broken one sitting in my gun closet, been there for a year or so now.

I had a blast with it for about 600 rounds just tearing up cans and such...

Mine now has the Known issue leaking down as fast you replace the cartridge... Now I have read that dumping many rounds back to back as fast as you can pull the trigger caused my issue.. Freezing internals, etc…Supposedly Sig has a fix for this issue if you send the gun back to them , and pay for the " Upgraded " repair , But if you read further into the gun reviews you will see that damn near every one of them has been " upgraded/repaired " now has other issues..

I will also throw in the trigger pull on it is Very long, and quite heavy.. keep in mind you are advancing pellet belt in the mag with every trigger pull to feed it.

My bottom line thoughts are it was a fun " toy " for a short while it worked, accurate , well it will hit a beer can, dependable, not so much in my opinion, inexpensive , I guess if your's doesn't break..

In closing I own 20 plus firearms, 8 air guns and the rest are real guns, I do a Lot of shooting, the Sig brand in general has gone steadily down hill over the last few years, ihave owned several and every one of them have been traded in towards new guns , not a Sig in the bunch with the exception of the broken MCX

Wow, that sucks, have you tryied to fix it yourself?, it could be a seal where you screw in the co2 or a stuck valve/o"ring, I have a 1077 that had the same problem, I thought it was the seal but end up been the valve and a o'ring, there was a lots of gunk/debris inside of it, good clean and change all the seals resolved the issue.

I see the the sig's have a lots of moving parts internally, I intend to eliminate some of that, if possible, to minimize the risks of failier, also to make the trigger lighter eliminating the trigger/mag feed and use only the charging bolt (if possible that is, also change barrels as I have a few laying around, I believe they (sig) has 16" barrel on the MCX and a 8"on the MPX. As I said, it will be a project gun as they are inexpensive, I really like the looks of them, it would be nice if they made a propper pcp with this platform.

This platform was really a disappointment for me.

looks great, feels great, Im big enough to use the PCP conversion comfortably. Shoots like a Daisy single pump action. I can literally see the pellets in flight when its hooked to a 3000 psi / 1100 psi regulator. What an absolute waste of money and compressed air. I didn’t chrony this poser . Didn’t need too. It would not penetrate a plastic 2 liter bottle at 25 yards.

This was a great disappointment for me as well. My MCX shoots like a scattergun and I cannot achieve any consistency in precision or accuracy, even at 10 yards in my basement. I called SIG to see if they would fix it because it was still under warranty. Their response was if it can "hit at target at 25 yards" then they would charge me shipping and labor. I could not take the chance of paying more money for a gun that performed poorly, so I kept it and I barely shoot it. I even bought more mags with it. I wish I could sell it but I would not want anyone to have such a poor performing gun. Mind you, it is a CO2 gun and I don't expect accuracy like a PCP, but a 5 inch group is totally unacceptable to me.
