Sig Sauer ASP20 - With or without Whiskey3?

I'm considering this rifle in .22 for eliminating a squirrel problem this fall/winter and I'm debating buying the rifle alone and adding a scope or just going with the kit that already includes the Whiskey3. I know Tom Gaylord praised the combination of the two in his review but I'm curious if there are other winners that would be a good or better match? Any suggestions?

I love my sig asp20. I find for hunting it is perfect. I thought the trigger was less than 2 lbs based on feel. But when tested breaks at 2 out of the box. It is still a perfect hunter. I mounted a vortex scope, and its perfect. I also love hunting with my diana and hw97,80,etc, but dont let the trigger on the asp20 dissuade you. Mine was stellar out of the box, and the gun is wonderful. It's not a rekord trigger, but is VERY good, and for hunting it's great.

I've had my ASP20 for almost a year now. Had a Hawke Airmax on it for awhile and then had a UTG Hunter 3x9-40 on it which is a good bang for the buck. I now have the Whiskey3 4x12-44 and it's lighter (5oz) than the UTG. Any weight reduction on the Sherman Tank ASP20 is a bonus. So far, I like the Whiskey3 scope. I would recommend picking up a synthetic stock Sig on Ebay for $350 and then pick up up the Whiskey3 scope directly from Sig for a total of $164. That would be a $514 total investment which isn't too bad.

I have a Hawke Airmax 4-12 on my ASP .22 . One of my favorite guns/scope combo. The reticle is thin, which is great for me. My trigger is a little less than 2 lbs for the complete firing but the 1st stage is almost 1 ½ lbs so the second stage is plenty light enough and is very crisp. I have no complaints on either. And is very accurate, at least for me. When I do my part 1" groups @ 50 yds are there.

Agreed. And mine is screaming accurate when I do my part.

I currently have a vortex diamondback 2-7x35 on mine. How is the glass/clarity on that sig whiskey3?

The clarity is pretty good. I wouldn't say it's like scopes costing far more but well worth the $164 I paid for it. Crosshairs are much finer that the UTG I had on it. I really am enjoying the 4X12 magnification. At 10 meters I was able to drive a Sig Crux lead pellet nearly down the same hole in a 4X6 board about six or seven shots out of ten shots. I kept thinking I was way off until I looked closely and seen these shots were nearly on top of one another. That was at 9X magnification. Higher magnification really makes a huge difference in group size. Yes, the Sig is quite accurate when factoring in it's power level !
