Sig Sauer ASP20 review

Hello Springer Shooters!!!

Being a PCP shooter, it's rare that I get my hands on a springer to shoot. But, every now and then, I get behind one to try it out. A few months ago, I had chance to get behind the Sig Sauer ASP20 break barrel and, I have to say, I was impressed! So, I decided to pick one up for myself. What impresses me about a springer is the ease of making the shot. aka, accuracy. But, with a springer it's a little different. You cant just count on the rifle to make the shot. The shooter is a major part of the system. For me, this rifle seemed easier to shoot than other springers I've shot in the past. It's still hold sensitive, as I found out during the filming, but does seem to be a more natural hold for me.

It was nice to be able to get a new rifle up and running for ~$500 as opposed to the $2000-3000 that my recent PCP's have all added up to! I stuck a cheapie Tasco Air Rifle scope on it in order to stay right around that $500 mark. It did everything it promised but, it's not going to be able to compete with the scopes I'm used to using which cost 10x that.

I posted this up on Airgun101 a little over a week ago and just posted it up on youtube last night. I'll be premiering my videos on Airgun101.com before they hit youtube for the foreseeable future.

I hope you all enjoy my take on this rifle!

Here's the video on Airgun101,

Happy Shooting!

Review was OK but would have liked to see chrony data and target accuracy tests.

The other thing which I don't agree with and mentioned in Tom Gaylords review is the issue of barrel cleaning.

No straw is needed in the barrel when cleaning. The patches will not get caught in the moderator as Tom

mentioned and confirmed by me when I cleaned the barrel.

Thank you for the review. I have my sig in .177 with over 4,000 rounds down range. I find it to be a fun fun to shoot, and VERY accurate. Usually shooting between 23 and 35 yards, somewhat limited by my backyard range. I will have to find an area and go for the 100 yard golf ball! The longest shootable distance on my property is 65 yards.....Will have to go somewhere else...

I've got a hankering to get a springer/break barrel after I saw your review. It was more encouraging to see your review than others.

You brought up a number of 'wants' that I'm looking for. You first paragraph said it all. I'm not one to read a long winded dissertation if it can be said in the fewest possible words.

It has a host of wants that are too numerous to innumerate here except to say it fits my needs.
A bit high $ wise from what I've paid for springers/break-barrels in the past. That has probably been the biggest stumbling block.

Many thanks for this review Tom.
