SideShot initial impressions. Just MHO.

Well I ended up order a side shot, because I was curious about how well it preformed.
My reservations were were mostly about bulky and weight of the unit.
Well it is rather sizable amount of hardware on the side of your gun. But it isn't vey heavy at all.
Light weight and very repeatable mounting system. (Wish they made it lefthand friendly.)
By that I mean with my Iphone 6s mounting it on the right side so I could easily see the phone screen wasn't an option for me on my Impact. The charging lever would hit the adjustment screw of the phone mount.
(Maybe if I got a Samsung phone with the camera located in the middle of the phone it would work?)
The design has one short coming that I see so far.
the phone sit about 1/4" away from the mounting plate allowing external light to disrupt the video quality.

But so far, overall for the price and what you get it seems really nice. (I just think they need to address the 1/4" gap between the phone and the mount.
I'll probably make a plate that can fill in the gap to alolw better video image quality.

Side Note:
My SWFA doesn't lend itself very well to this platform. I'll see how it works on my Hawke FFP when it gets here.

The SWFA works. But I have noticed that the SWFA is a finicky scope. I own the 12x and the 10x and both are finicky when it comes to eye relief and hazing/milky glare of the optics. Also, If you look at the video the reticle at times becomes blue. That's because it's picking up the color of the enclosure that I'm in. Not sure if the Hawke will have these issue? But I'm sort of on the fence if I really like the SWFA's?
Awesome reticle, built like a tank!
For the price? It's good.
But I think I could get much better for just a bit more money. Don't get me wrong I like the scope. But it's far from being a Great Scope!

Thanks for explaining. My SWFA 20x is also picky in terms of eye relief for a clear (non milky) sight picture. I usually don't mind when shooting off a bench because a clear picture can always be found once I find the sweet spot. It is much more difficult when I practice shooting off-hand. I have my eye open for a better optic, but am hesitant to pay 2 to 6 times the price of the SWFA.
