Sideshot GoPro $1250.

I’m sure at that price they’ll sell some but no where near what they had probably intended. I’ll be keeping my eye on the hajimoto setup though. I have a hero 4 and special lense already from when I tried to do his diy setup but I could never get it to work right. I’d imagine with the sideshot and the hero 4 case already installed will make it a lot easier to get it to work.

So a side shot mount without an included gopro will be available? I have a hero 4 already and have been waiting months to utilize it in a side shot type mount.

Totally agree. All along I was expecting a Sideshot where you used your Go Pro vice your cell phone. I’m very disappointed. Hopefully the Hajimoto hack works as intended and does what we thought Sideshot was going to do in the first place...

Exactly. I thought it was going to be geared towards a GgoPro 3,4, or 5. Then, more recently I started hearing rumor that it was going to be GoPro 7...never anticipated it would be over $1k. Not saying it isn't priced according to cost...but I have other options (ATN X-Sight for one) for half the price.

I could see spending a couple hundred bucks on the mount and using my own GoPro...much beyond that and I'll go a different direction.

very disappointed... and with how it will be outdated within less then 12 months with no ability to use current hardware, that really is the icing on the cake! I hope everyone buys other brands.

Not sure how well versed you are on GoPros but how can something that currently supports a Hero 5 which was released on September 2016 be outdated in 12 months??? The 5/6 and 7 All can use the same case.
Also, the soon to be released Hajimoto Collaboration model will support the Hero 3 and 4 which the 3 was released in late 2012.

Hajimoto, any idea when your version will be released, and what the price will be? I have a GoPro 4 that's been collecting dust for a few years now that I'd like to use for shooting videos... Thanks!

It is a bit of a moving target currently but I will have a much better handle on it by the end of next week.
I hope that is acceptable.

Hajimoto, having worked extensively for the leading electronics deal for America I've very well versed. If you have even basic knowledge in electronics you would know that the majority of eletroncis in today's world outdate within a 12 month cycle. Same reason people aren't driving around model T's on the road compared to today's cars... I'm not saying older version won't/wouldn't work nor also that they wouldn't produce adequate quality video. The Hero 5 is limited in its video capabilities and will not be upgradable hardware or software wise in the future and that is a fact, period. If GoPro thought their Hero 5 was still current, then they'd be selling them and not a newer version. The versions you'd be making an option for Hero 3/4 are even older and more restricted in their capabilities than a 5/6/7.

I guess I misunderstood your original statement of " it will be outdated within less then 12 months with no ability to use current hardware " to be an assessment of the Side-Shot. Based on your latest response, you were obviously speaking about electronics changing. But I guess the only saving grace is that the 5, 6 and 7 all have the same form factor so therefore can use the same case. One can only hope that the 8 will share the same form factor as well. Worst case scenario (pun unintended) Side-Shot could offer a replacement case that accommodates the future Hero form factor.

As for the video quality for the Heros 3/4/5/6, they all do a super great job of video capture once the lens focus is corrected.

What I'd like to know is why they can't make a mount with a built in macro lens so that the gopro doesn't need to be modified to shorten the focal length?

There seems to be several available for close up gopro videography.

I agree with your comment. The only issue I have seen as it relates to macro lens add ons is they are huge! The other consideration is the more lenses the image has to go through the more light that is lost. I am not saying its not a good idea I'm just trying to think through the process.
