So I got the side shot gopro mount for hero 3/4. To start with the paper folded insert is for the camera mount, lame to say the least. My order form states hero 3 or 4 and I get a phone hand folded instruction paper. LAME!!!!. I like the side shot peeps and products but Cmon, cant even add the instructions for a hero 3 or 4 like my receipt states. LAME... good quality and then I get a P.O.S paper that was placed in the shipping box that doesn't even pertain to my product....... Disappointed is as soft as I can describe my emotion. Capt. Does anyone know where I can find info on how to setup the side shot gopro for a hero 4 gopro? I have looking on YouTube with little success and side shot sent nothing with the mount. I'm am specifically looking for GoPro settings etc. All I get now after adjusting the lens is a small little picture of a reticle. I have another 4.1 lens coming. Any help would be great, thanks in advance.

Please note my response to this post is specifically addressing the question as it relates to the GoPro Hero 4 Black. Previously In a video, I warned that the lens too large will make the video image too zoomed in.

Another thing that will make the image large is a lower resolution. a 720P image will be HUGE compared to 1080P.
My recommendation is a lens 4.0 to 6mm

Camera Settings for best pellet in flight capture:

  • Resolution: 720
  • FPS: 240
  • FOV: N
  • Low Light: OFF
  • Spot Meter: ON
  • PT: OFF

Camera Settings for best video image quality:

  • Resolution: 2.7K
  • FPS: 30
  • FOV: L
  • Low Light: N/A
  • Spot Meter: ON
  • PT: OFF

Camera Settings for best compromise of FPS and Resolution :

  • Resolution: 1080
  • FPS: 120
  • FOV: N
  • Low Light: OFF
  • Spot Meter: ON
  • PT: OFF

I think you will be happy with these results. If your image is still too large change FOV from N to W.

I would recommend that you watch my other Scope Camera videos as you may get some tips that will help you.

Hajimoto, for us GoPro 7 owner, can we not just purchase the Hero 3/4 kit, and modify the Aqua case of the 7 to fit on the mount? I really have no use for two GoPro cameras.

Just hit up the Side-Shot boys and tell them you want to buy the SS for GP 5,6 or 7 without the camera, DONE!

Just wondering if anyone experience the frustration I am going thru waiting for an email response from Side Shot about the availability of the Side Shot for GoPro 7 without the camera.

Yes, I am. I can't stand it when a company won't allow a customer to call and talk with them. To me personally, a phone number is a HUGE part of customer service. They apparently don't have a business phone number. I even called Utah Airguns, and they claimed to only have personal cell numbers for them, and understandably would not give them out. I did get the guy from UA to take my number and he said he would pass it to the guys at side-shot and ask them to call me. It's one thing when you don't give out a phone number, but if you're going to run your business that way, at least make darn sure you keep up on the "CONTACT US" contacts you get through your website!

I am trying to get a definitive answer as to whether the Back-Bone HS7PRO modified HERO7 GoPro camera they use in their GoPro Side-Shot Scope Cam System can be taken from their scope cam system and placed into a new HERO7 waterproof housing to be used for diving purposes. I would buy one of these expensive systems IF the camera can go from the Side-Shot to an underwater housing for diving use as well as scope cam use, but I have to know for sure as I don't want to get stuck with that bill and find out it doesn't fit in a housing as I receive it.

Well Guys I finally pestered the boys at Side-Shot enough!
They finally made the Side-Shot for GoPro Hero 5,6 and 7 available WITHOUT the Backbone camera!
This is a big deal because that means if you already have a GoPro Hero 5, 6 or 7 all you need is the Side-Shot mount.
