Sick new mini chrony

That looks exactly like the one Giles tried out from FX, except for the "Carbon" name...

Carbon's website says its maximum velocity is only 450fps. I guess the one FX is working with has more fps.

Looks promising. I'd get one now if the rated fps were higher with the Carbon unit.

Good catch tflats99! I was looking to see if anyone else was making this after I saw Giles' video and didn't find it. It would seem that FX has turned the power up on their version because Giles' test unit was reading twice the speed this one can do. Guess I will have to wait on FX's unit.

Yeah, not a lot of innovation using photoshop to slap a logo on it ;). That company is tiny, and the Chinese are as loyal as the next dollar bill. They didn’t even change the form factor (ex: the visual barrel alignment on the top).

This happens so often. We will see if FX announces it as a licensing play (like DonnyFL), but based on that paid review... appears they are calling it their own. We shall see 🤷‍♂️. At first glance, I was like sign me up. Very cool concept for sure

So i am new to this site, saw this thread and thought i would report. I bought this unit last week and played with it and the companion app a little. Seems like the app at least does not go above 570ish fps. Which was disappointing, but when i loaded some HN piledriver 177s into a Remington varmint springer to get velocity in that range, it performed exactly as the one seen on giles video of the fx prototype, the app seems nearly identical as well, and i would not at all be surprised if the device is not the limiting factor, but rather the programing, and that fx is using this same unit and addapting the same app.

It does work nicely at those lower velocites and i hope the to be released fx app will allow this device to sync with it, but we shall see.

I have not really taken time to see if there is any other support or modifications out there for it, so perhaps there may be a way to tweak the app to read higher velocity, or some firmwear upgrade for the unit itself that i don't know of

That’s a good point. I bet it’s the app. I think airsoft has some rules/regulations/laws around FPS... I wonder if that has something to do with it.

What velocities did you get with the Remington springer and the HM piledrivers? Did the unit display that velocity?

It never displayed velocity above those 500s noted above. The pile drivers were in the low 500s and i can run them again to confirm and also try a few other bb guns and airsoft guns i have that should be in the upper limits of what the app listed.

I feel as though it is more likely software and prehaps firmware differences between the carbon and fx units, and less likely hardware itself, given the same form factor. But that's just my feeling on it. When fx's app is out, i am hoping it works on this unit
