Shot string in cold or hot temperature?

Does it make a difference if you chronograph your pcp in the cold or hot? Would your ES and SD stay the same in either the heat or cold? I know your FPS will be slightly slower in cold temps compared to shooting in hot temps. I try to warm my pcp's in front a heater before I test different fill pressures, different weights, or different pellets/slugs but the only time I can test is late at night and the garage gets really cold (low 40s). I try to shoot the gun before it starts getting really cold because I believe this would give me incorrect numbers. Am I wrong or right?

Extreme spread and standard deviation both relate to consistency, and the extent to which consistency is influenced by temperature will depend on whether there is any lubrication on the hammer that becomes more viscous as it gets colder. That will tend to not only make the velocity more erratic but also slower on average. If you see that issue, clean everything well and burnish in a dry lube like graphite, molybdenum disulfide, or tungsten disulfide.

Yes, it will make a difference!

No, they might not stay the same! It is not just the air density changing but the fit between parts and the viscosity of any lubricants that may slow the moving parts.
