Shot my second 10M benchrest match tonight.

About a month ago I shot my first 10M benchrest match at a local gun club, I finished last out of six shooters with a 471/500. These are casual fun shoots where the winner doesn't win anything. Since the first match I bought some of the NRA AR5-10 targets to practice on and a LH 601 that arrived a week ago from the Netherlands, the first match I shot with one of my 300's.

I'm proud to say that tonight I finished third out of seven shooters with a 496/500 with my 601. Only two of the seven weren't shooting PCP rifles, my 601 and a 300S, the PCP's were two Anschutz, one Walther, one Feinwerkbau and I don't know what the other one was. The winner shot a perfect 500/500 with an Anschutz and second was 499/500 with the Walther.

For the last several days I've been practicing with two rifles to see which one I shot the best and the 601 has been 3-5 points better than my favorite 300S in every 50 round practice that I've shot. It's fun to see my hard work paying off.

One of the Great things about this post is the fact that for Most "mere mortals",the BEAUTIFUL,Finely Crafted,Rock Solid older match rifles like the FWB 300S,Diana 75's ect. are More than capable of still being competitive!

JWR,among others, have said that seeing this level of quality and refinement in spring guns is in all likelihood a thing of the past.

Nice to see these Wonderful rifles still makin' it happen after all these years!

Good Job Man!!

Mike.

Here's the rifle, it's a shooter but not as sexy as my 300's IMO.

Good shooting!!

I have a FWB 601 that I have removed from the stock in preperation to ship off for a tune. Only thing is its been 9 months now and it still has not been sent off. Your post has inspired me to get off top dead center and get it sent off. Hard to shoot if it is out of the stock. BTW I love my 601 what a sweet hart to shoot. Truly a fine rifle.

Lewis

Don't take mine as the final word, I based my above statement on the fact that all the LH 300's I've ever seen were RH guns in LH stocks and assumed their later rifles were that way too. It appears I'm wrong in my reasoning, my wife says I'm wrong most of the time anyway so I'm used to it, lol.

I'm actually right handed and left eye dominant so I shoot LH and it works out well for me. I cock with my right hand and load with my left. Please post some photo's of your rifle when you get a chance,it would be cool to a see a true LH one.

As far as I know all the FWB actions are the same, they just put them RH or LH stocks.

Guy's I'm wrong, there are indeed true LH 600 series rifles. After Lewis posted I did a quick search and turned up several images and references to them on various sites.

I apologize for my misinformation and any confusion I may have caused.
