Shot my new .25 Wildcat 56 times today, got some data for you.

Well, the weather was nice here in Ga, so I shot my new .25 FX Wildcat 56 times (7 mags worth of pellets).

The pellets were JSB Match Diablo, 25.39 gr.

Shots 1-45 were all above 901 fps.

The average for shots 1-45 was 911.8 fps (46.883 KE). The lowest was 902 fps (shots #4 and 6) and the highest was 920 fps (shot #32).

When I began shooting there was 230 Bar in the Wildcat ..25.

The last shot above 900 fps (#45) took the .25 Wildcat to a Bar of 137.5.

After shot #45, fps’s went downhill pretty steadily.

Shot #45 – 903 fps (Bar was 137.5)
#46 – 894
#50 – 886
#51 = 876
#55 – 858
#56 – 853 (Bar was 120)

I once had an Mrood in .25 caliber and it never shot as long as the Wildcat, but of course, it wasn’t regulated, either.

"Plinkster"Be careful shooting your rifle off the regulator. If I'm not mistaken I think the wildcat in 25 is 137-140bar somewhere in that area. Seems at shot 46 your off the reg. All in all nice numbers!
Thanks for the advice. In the future, I'm going try to stop at 150, maybe to 140 at the lowest.

No problem, I would avoid any unnecessary problems or issues with these rifles as repairs can be costly! Enjoy and shoot safe

"oldspook"I think the only danger of shooting off regulator is that you might wind up with a pellet lodged in the bore. How else would you empty the cylinder to ship it? But by all means, correct me if I am wrong someone.
There are videos out there to bleed the air out the cylinder. Shortly after getting the Wildcat 25 and while tuning, I shot 86 rounds from 230 bar down to 118 bar. I ended my tune with 56 shots (230bar - 138bar) for an avg of 905fps. Anyway, I then read about not shooting under reg pressure, because.... for the likes of me, couldn't remember why. But to this day, I had no ill effects for shooting under reg pressure. I've heard if you DRY FIRE an airgun with zero air in the cylinder, the valve pin might over-travel and jam itself in the valve. Maybe someone can chime in on why not to shoot under reg pressure.

"bltefft"I'm going to make a practice of not shooting my Wildcat .25 down past 140 Bar.

I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I guess for simplicity, that means I'll be limiting myself to shooting five 8-pellet mags, before I air up the Wildcat to 230 bar again.

40 shots to me isn't bad for a 25 cal cylinder airgun shootin an avg of 911fps Happy shootin!

Thanks, Dartagnan, my thought too.
