short term rental

I might be living in a fantasy world however i wondered if there was any company or individual that would rent guns out of all types and price ranges to test for short term?live in a very rural area dont have the chance to see or handle higher end guns that would be worth the cost to get the right rifle.crazy question probably ,be nice when responding living in my own world again.

Rguns,

You don't live in a fantasy world as I asked the very same question a while back on another airgun board and got some interested responses.

"It's a great idea ff the manufacturers would do it. Individuals just rarely can afford to absorb the loss or destruction of a gun. And it only takes 1 bad user to do it."

"It only takes one bad apple to derail the whole thing. As much as you think you know someone on the web, if you have not met them or know someone in the flesh who has, you are still dealing with a stranger. I am not trying to be alarmist or offensive in any way here. Most folk are honest and want to do the best they can. Then you run into some 1 percenter who is not and things go awry.

"
"The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Tools, fishing tackle and guns are on my personal "no-lend list". Regardless of what someone says, rarely if ever does someone treat others stuff as if it was their own. If all this sounds a bit cynical, so be it. Not worth losing a friend over. "

"At a match, I would share my rifle...but I would not like it out of my sight."

You hit the nail on the head, T4F. I think that it's sorta like buying a motorcycle or high dollar item in the stores like Bose....you can't take it home an try it out, then decide(" Well I reallyyyy can't afford this") then take it back. You have to make a real educated guess as to what you really want, then go and get it. Half the reason I buy such things is the antisapation of the whole thing. So I would say. " BE AN EDUCATED BUYER" then buy or not. I know this sounds harsh but. It is what it is....I do however think there is a need for more air gun stores. But the manufactures don't want that competitive to start with stores selling things cheaper then the next. If you really want airguning to be taken to the next level, all that's needed is a movie about them and wa la. Before you know it we have a billion dollar market raise to a 5 billion dollar market...if you noticed there are more and more pcp manufactures every day coming up with the next big thing. I'm wondering when Daystate, will come back down to earth with there crazy prices. I know they make great air guns but damn.....3000.00 for a .22 cal. Come on!!! OK I'll stop this is now starting me on a rant. Best guys.....Steve

As sad as it may seem the biggest hurdle-INSURANCE!!! Rental firms have horrible insurance rates. They have to insure against loss, damage, theft, property damage, personal injury, etc. I used to work hand in hand with an equipment rental facility and the insurance they had to carry was more than 50% of the rental fee!! At the end of the day the only way they made and "true" money was on delivery fees, and late fees. Imagine what the insurance would be on a rifle or pistol!
