Shipping a Rifle Scope out of the Country

I have a friend in Germany that is interested in a Bushnell Trophy Rifle Scope that is not available in Germany:

https://www.amazon.com/Bushnell-Trophy-Multi-X-Reticle-Silver/dp/B01BNSHQGI/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1483473231&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=bushnell%2Bxlt%2Bscope%2Bsilver&th=1&psc=1

My friend has purchased items for me that are only available in Germany and has sent them to me and I would like to do the same for him.

But I when attempting to order I received similar statements such as:

It looks like this item is restricted for export under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, ITAR (22 CFR, Parts 120-130) or the Export Administration Regulations, EAR (15 CFR, Parts 730-774). Please ensure you comply with any regulatory licensing and documentation requirements associated with this product. For more information and guidance on these regulations, see the US Department of State website, the Bureau of Industry and Security website, and our military items policy.

Has anyone have any experience with sending a Rifle Scope out of the Country?

TIA

Eric

ITAR covers anything that may be considered to "enhance" a rifle's performance (so, just about anything labelled 'Tactical' or in fact anything at all).

Scopes above 4x mag are considered esp. dangerous (in the wrong hands) so are bipods, trigger parts (like Timoney SP) etc. etc.

ITAR operates both ways (export & import) and of course is enforced by Dept.of Homeland Security.

Disagreement with Homeland Security or the ITAR agreement is futile.

(look - you know & I know it's a joke, but speaking for myself, I'd rather NOT wear that unflattering ORANGE BOILERSUIT thing).

& I live in the UK !
