Share your Evanix experiences

I didn't want to hijack Hajimoto's thread, so I thought I would ask this in a new one... Would anyone be willing to share their experiences with the Evanix brand of air rifles? Haj did a great job in his recent YouTube video review of the new semi autos, and I realized, the only thing I've heard about them is an off-hand comment in an old Airgun Depot video of the Hatsan Barrage/Bullmaster. I haven't seen any posts on here about them either - certainly not with the regularity of the FX and Daystate posts.

If you have one, or have first hand experience with one, could you tell us about it?

I'm one of the few that didn't have a great experience several years ago. I had bought a refurbished Rainstorm 2 bullpup from PA in .357. Several of the components inside tore up one after the other. Most dangerously, the metal used in the pin that cocks the hammer wore out, making the gun misfire during cocking. I ended up rebuilding almost all of the gun's internals. To my recollection, the valve stem broke, the hammer pin broke, and other components broke that I can no longer remember. Although I had power modded the gun by opening up the transfer port, my mod wasn't the issue. Poor metals used in the gun's action were the issue. Nor was it the fact my gun was a refurb. After encountering these problems, I found others across the airgun community that had the same problems with their Rainstorms new out of the box. By the time I was done rebuilding the gun was reliable and shot well, but I was so frustrated with it I sold it to a buddy, who still has it and loves it to this day.

I thought the guns' valving was great. Its amazing efficient for the amount of power it puts out. Its also easy to work on (except that the bullpup chases was a pain to take off the gun, but that wouldn't be a problem for a non-bullpup or differently designed bullpup gun).

So presuming that Evanix makes their guns with better internal components now that won't break or wear down with normal use, the only complaint left is that their triggers are ridiculously heavy. I fixed mine by lightly sanding the internals of the assembly so it broke lightly, but that's a scary thing to do because if you take too much off you now have a dangerous hair trigger. Their triggers shouldn't need that kind of modification out of the box.

So I'm not necessarily a fan. But I know reliable guys who swear by Evanix. I'd try another one if it had a better trigger out of the box. I was interested in the Cloud Evanix was developing, but so far its been vaporware (but I do see it on their website as the first thing that pops up).

I’ve got a .30 RS2. Had it about 1-1/2 years. Put about 2000 rounds through it with about 1/2 of those shot at prairie dogs on a week long hunt in Colorado earlier this year.

Only change I made was installing a .25 marauder hammer spring to get the FPS down to a practical speed. (850fps 44g JSB)

Installed a air stripper from Neil Clague that slips over the factory shroud keeping the OAL also practical and quieter.

and I used in the AGD golf ball challenge.

Apples to Oranges here guys, I know tangs changes over time,

Koran guns shoot hot right out of the box,

But I was told eight years ago by some of the masters of the PCP world, Back in the day

before FX , Hatsan and lot of other guns , NEVER BUY A KORAN gun unless you want to work and rebuild it, Now that was back in 2000 and a lot of thing I know change.

I did buy a Puncher B/P a while back, 9 months ago, Sent it back to PA the 3ed day I had it for a refund.

But and there always is one, The semi Autos have my full attention,

I try and keep an open mind,

The reports so far have me standing on guard with my back account, (paypal) .

I am impressed so far , Just not SOLD.

My first pcp was an .22 Evanix Rainstorm. It was trouble free. I sold it to a friend and he still has it and it shoots great. Actually , I bought a FX Royale 400 for my second pcp & I never did like the feel of it. To me the Rainstorm feels better in my hand & I feel was better carrying rifle for squirrel hunting. The Rainstorm mags were better. The FX was more accurate, but for hunting not noticeable.
