For the ppl who clicked on this Shadow is my hours old Uragan Compact in 177.
When I saw Shadow arrived in Seattle I was a kid waiting for Santa (UPS guy). Between responsibilities I decided I could risk it (meaning missing Santa and run to the store) then as I pull out the parking lot I see Santa’s sleigh down a few blocks. So I go prancing down the street to Santa’s sleigh and wait, then I see Santa in his brown and gold jolly suit.
I approach Santa and ask if he is the Santa with my present (self purchased) and he said, “I may let me look.” Santa had my present and it saved him a stop.
Here are my impressions so far, generically speaking, IMPRESSED. The build is solid and has heft. Machining is top notch, trigger is good, but not a Taipan, but on par with the Prophet and Katran. Rating my bottle forward guns in firmness Shadow, Glimmer (former RTI PPC) and FX Impact MKII.
I mounted a Athlon Talos 4x14x44 BTR scope using Eagle Vision Infinity rings. Bipod is a $40 cheapie…definitely NOT and AccuTac (a July purchase) yes I have become a bipod snob after owning an AccuTac.
After I unboxed and cleaned it up. I needed to see if a flow restrictor was installed on the transport, I can say NO.
I decided to do some “sunburn” shooting (8 yards) indoors. Out of the box I am getting around 808 FPS aka 15ish FPE, so about where the gun should be shooting. Also, though 8 yards I know Shadow is going to be stupid accurate you point it shoots where you want.
Tomorrow @Sasquatch and I are heading out to a couple of my permissions and Shadow do its work. @ctshooter recommended 10.34 gr JSBs and so I will start there, and then experimentation starts. I have faith in my Czech roots (I am half Czech) that the CZ barrel with the right slug can do it part time.
The AGT moderator that was included is pretty good, but I will probably “steal” @ctshooter’s idea and use a Huma moderator to shorten up the length 5ish inches. @ctshooter says Huma is mouse fart quiet, the AGT is doggish.
Summary: Shadow is now part of the family and the ground floor of the rebirth of my collection. Also, I hope Shadow likes moving around because in a month we do a cross country trip on the move to New Hampshire.
