I like to have a back-up sight on my squirrel rifles.  Sometime I like to use a Squirrel Distress call and it is not uncommon to have a large female Fox Squirrel come in rushing me @ 10 yards or so. I have found a back-up sight sighted in @10 yards is the ticket. Here is a couple I have tried.

So when you use your secondary sights, you shoot your gun gangster style?

I would think for a single zero range those are fine.  I would imagine a good amount for left/right windage needed further out.

On another note why not get a scope that focuses to ten yards and use holdover?

Those setups are very similar to how firearms are setup for competition and military/law enforcement tactical applications.

When I use  offset 45 or 90 degree  , I do it gangster style.  When I use a scope mounted on top, just raise my head.

Last year one day , I was in thick stuff I killed my limit (6)  tree squirrels at 15 yards or less , never used the scope, just the  secondary . Most of my shots are 30 – 60 yards, but early season, we get some real close shots,( especially with a call , they run over you)  it is real hard to get a  moving squirrel in a scope @ 10 yards when your lowest setting is 5 power or so. It can be done, but you will let a lot get away.
