"Seasoning" a barrel

So my gun shoots some pellets faster after the barrel has had a few hundred shots through it after cleaning it - about 24FPE clean and 27FPE "seasoned". I just cleaned the barrel again but since it's a single shot 50lb pull break barrel - Does anyone know a better/faster/cheaper way of getting your barrel to that sweet spot without shooting it there??

Gamo Magnum. Was looking for a 125 Vortex but got this one for $175 used. I've put some work into it but I'm am actually VERY happy with it. It only likes H&N pellets (Terminators and Sniper Magnums are shooting about 3/4" at 36yds and 27FPE) and gamo red fires are surprisingly accurate with a lot of expansion.

Nice, yeah I’m not sure if it’s a case of “seasoning” the barrel or if it’s the piston chamber warming up after a few shots that might give you the slight increase in power.

Nah, I've chrony'd it both ways with multiple pellets and see the same spike/drop each time. I'm wondering if there's something like carbon dust (?) I can sprinkle down the barrel to get the affect. I assume if I wash my pellets (I have before) it will slow this process down.

You said you have washed your pellets did you lube them. If not then maybe this will give more shots before having to clean the barrel. just a thought. Joel

Agreed. Right now I'm hoping to do the opposite and dirty this thing up in a hurry, haha.

Ok here is my advice. Instead of cleaning the barrel.... just pull a couple of patches through when your accuracy suffers. Dont go overboard. Try 3 or 4 dry patches and shoot again til the accuracy slips and figure out what works best. Dont over clean. Most springer/nitro pistons dont lead much anyway. Good luck.

I like the advice given by crittahitta a little cleaning would probably be better .
I like to shoot maybe 2 cleaning felts after I'm done shooting as my cleaning
maintenance this does well for me and keeps my gun shooting more consistently .
