Scott 4500psi scba tank from ebay

Bought a tank MFG 2010 hdro tested 2016 off ebay.

I fill to 4400psi for my Avenger get almost 2 fills at 4300psi then it drops off..still get about 6 fills from 4300 to 3000 which is still good.

Given that I fill my own tank and that the tank is good for 4 more yrs,

Is filling tank to 4500psi good or should I continue at 4400psi? Don't know if it make much of a difference.

I love my Avenger but I have other guns that only fill to 3000psi

I guess I could only fill tank to 3500psi and fill Avenger at home then only use tank to fill other guns.

Would still have a great day of shooting fun.

What you think?

Congrats on your new tank, it will make your shooting easier. I assume it was a firefighter Scott unit. In practice, those cylinders are filled to max 4500 psi for use, so should be fine to fill to that pressure. I always fill mine to max safe pressure to get the most fills per cylinder charge. However, everyone has their own preferred pressures. Have fun and good and straight shooting to you!

Absolutely yes fill it up to 4500 if your compressor is up to it. You will gain almost double the number of fills. See calcs below for difference ( used Airguns of Arizona’s tank fill calculator)

I use a Hill EC-3000 to top off my tank. I know it is not for filling tanks but I run it 3 cooldown cycles then let it sit for 1hr

then repeat . That usually tops it off to 4400psi

I then use my Nomad II to go to 4500psi

I think I will stop using my Nomad cause it is a real strain on it.

Thought about buying a Young Heng but so far the Hill is working great

What kind of compressor? If it's a Yong Heng I would suggest NOT filling past 4200-4250psi MAX. More concerned about pushing your compressor to 4500. The tank itself can handle it but compressor might be another story!

I've filled to 4400 for 3 years with my Yong Heng. Certainly filling to a lower pressure will produce less stress on the compressor but you will also get fewer fills and slower fills with the lower pressure. I have Condors using 3600 psi tanks and they fill VERY slowly once pressure drops below 4000 in the CF tank. Fills to smaller air tubes are still quick and easy at that point. All relative.
