Scopes which meet THESE criteria for hunting ?

My airgun mentor has 28 airguns, and believes the ultimate field carry hunting scope is the Weaver V16. Says it's because it has a great magnification range for walk hunting, isn't too expensive, is very clear, has adjustable obj, is magnum springer rated for a bonus, and weighs only 16oz. Making it easy to carry all day long. For bench shooting, or prone varmint hunting, he prefers Hakwe scopes. And other than a couple of Leupolds, that is all he has on his airguns.

My pawn shop purchased PCP had a scope on it that is surprisingly good, and it stunned Bob. It is a Simmons Predator Quest 4,5-18 x44 side focus, which weighs only 17oz. It is not springer rated, but the shock is it's optics are as good as the V16 scopes and his Hawkes. And the scope is inexpensive too.

This makes me ask, what other scopes do you know of which meets these criteria ?

Under 19oz

variable power to at least 12x

adjustable obj

under $375

very clear optics

Does NOT have to be springer rated

Thanks for any suggestions. I am in buying mode.

I just picked up a Bushnell Elite 4500 6--24 for $359 from NatchezSS . It's every bit as clear as the V16 and V24 I have and might even be lighter AND it is a side parallax. I believe all Bushnell's are springer rated but not sure it actually says so. Quite a nice scope. Made in Japan.

I do like the Weaver V series, though. Excellent value and made in Japan as well.

Thank you for the recommendations. Someone privately mentioned a Burris Timberline 4.5-14 x 32 AO as a great scope, and really small.

Thanks for the video suggestion, Hawkeye69. I am surprised any tactical scope could also be lightweight. I will have to check that out. My local friend has a single Bushnell Elite scope on a target gun. Although length was not in my criteria, I personally find the Elite scopes to be really long for carrying in the woods/field. I thought of one for my RWS-54, to replace the older Bushnell Legend scope which came on it. But the Elite scopes would cover the loading port on that gun. Then I found out from Bob, the older Legends were known for some really good glass, and was standing up to my 54 just fine. I love his V16s though, and may still sell my Legend or trade it for a Weaver V24. I'm just a bit stupid that way. He tells me to leave it alone, as it is a tack driver. But the 54 is NOT a gun I am carrying around hunting with me. It is going to be a bench/ bipod gun. Just too heavy. So I could use more magnification, as my eyes are only so good. I'm thinking one of the Hawke scopes, since weight won't matter any longer at that point.

I would really appreciate your advice on my 54 scope thoughts above. The gun is tuned by someone named John from Pennsylvania., And it is really smooth shooting, even at 24 fpe.
