Scope Recommendations?

FWIW, I am very pleased with my new Discovery Optics scope. I can't emphasize enough just how good the glass is in them for the price.

Yes, they are made in China, but for anyone's who is curious to how they started so fast making nice scopes... They apparently are made in the same factory that was founded by an ex-design engineer for Vortex. That's a nice springboard to have for a "newer" scope company (and it shows in the quality of their scopes).

A second side-note: Discovery's website is a little fruity, as it would appear that they never really finished it. But they have many more models and styles of scopes being sold that are not listed on their website.

I was looking at the sightron and I really like the reticle! actually it's one of my favorite so far.
But I'm a bit weary about a scope made in the Philippines?

I'm sort of leaning towards the bushnell forged series in the Terrain 2.5-15x50

Anyone have experience with these

The Phillipines is considered 2nd to Japan for glass, kind of like Taiwan steel is to USA's. My Vortex Viper PST II was made there, the glass is very clear!

I would recommend the Bushnell Engage 30mm tube 4-16x44 or the 6-24x50. Note that if you’re military or retired military, police or firefighter you can get Bushnell for 40% off. Great scope for the money. Lightweight, clear glass, repeatable turrets, good reticle, focus to 10 yards, great warranty.

Thanks for that info Centercut. 40% off may sway me from SWFA to Bushnell as I've owned both and I LOVE my older Bushnell scopes.

Go to Amazon and you can steal a Hawke Frontier 2.5-15×50 TMX reticle, spotless glass. This older model is discontinued I paid 750 last year. They are 389.95!!! My friends have purchased six of these. The TMX reticle is my favorite reticle for holds and windage. I'm using two of these presently. Go check you will put more than 300.00 in your pocket. Also light and compact for your cat.

Good Hunting

I wish the Nightforce could focus down to 10 yrds. Everyone I've seen the lowest is 25 yards

I'm 100% with you there! Also a bummer that it's from the SHV line too :/

Nightforce has one - focuses down to 10yds - the ATACR 7-35X56 - it's so bad ass it will lighten your wallet by $3600. lol

Happy Shooting

Oh yeah. That NF is badass.I nearly bought one but opted for the IOR Recon 4-28x50 - 40mm instead. Focuses down to 21 feet. After having experienced Schmidt Bender PM II, the NF ATACR and the Tangent Theta, in the past, I truly believe that the best glass in the rifle scope world is IOR hands down. Without exception. But they are all close optically. Both the Schmidt Bender and the NF tunnel at low magnification which really isnt a big deal in terms of use, since most are not going to use these FFP scopes at 5 or 7x magnification where field of view doesn't expand until 8 or so. Whereas IOR has 0 tunneling affect. All of these scopes are badass. Add to this the Khales k525i and the Vortex Razor HD Gen2.

When these scopes were tested by Precision rifle blog, the IOR Recon mechanics tracked to absolute perfection with 0 recticle cant. It was one of only three scopes with 0 recticle cant, in the tests. And the top dog in tracking mechanics. Optically, it went dead even with Swaro in other tests. Anyway, somewhere along the line, this might help someone.

A.I.

My rating system is different than most. I have been behind and used these scopes.

LOL. I agree, I can think of a LOT of better things to do with $3600. If you need a $3600 scope to put on an airgun (ANY AIRGUN) you better be winning every FT competition on the planet, winning at the Olypics, or take half of that money and get some good LASIK surgery on those eyes. Take the rest of the money and buy 7 decent scopes.

I'm not making it personal, not judging anyone. But seriously, those prices are too rich for 98% of consumers in this world. If you can afford it, great. I applaud you. But let's be realists here.
